Courtesy lights
Hi all,
Have just taken on our first campervan, a 2004 Symbol. So far we love her and will, no doubt have a thousand questions.
Here is the first. The rear door has a switch in the pillar but does not operate the courtesy lamp in cab. Is it supposed to? Should there be a separate, rear courtesy lamp?
Have learned a lot from reading posts, here. Many thanks.

I don't think you have a rear light but the van before conversion did. The switch is probably from the base van but disconnected now.

Thanks Paul, seems a shame, t'would be very useful. I suppose the wiring may still be there. Does anyone know where the wiring loom runs from that area. Rear light clusters etc.

Re: Courtesy lights
Further thought, could be an alarm switch. Are there similar switches on other doors in addition to normal courtesy light switches. May be one on bonnet as well.

Re: Courtesy lights
I think they are disconnected by Auto-sleeper on build because, being a campervan, the doors are very often left open and will flatten the vehicle battery if the courtesy lights are left on for long periods. I could be wrong but that's my take on it !

Re: Courtesy lights
Interesting thoughts and thanks for the welcome. Even if it is an alarm switch (it's not used for that in this van) I may try to "refunction" it if I've nothing better to do!?
Long way down the priority list.
