EC155 & Sargent EC51 Control Panel issues
Hi, I appear to have new issues which somebody may be able to help with. It seams my EC155 unit isn't charging either the lesser or vehicle battery when connected to the mains. Both batteries were going flat and I am having to charge up using a separate battery charger. I have SORN the vehicle for the winter so can't take for a run anyway.
When I do run the engine the amber central light on the EC51 Control panel flashes and I haven't noticed this before, although this might not be an issue.
The fuses and trips on the EC155 unit appear fine. I don't know if there are any other fuses such as a loom protection fuse that I did see mentioned in a similar thread, but I can't see one.
Has anybody had this issue and can point me in the right direction please.

Is the charger switched on? (Switch on top of the EC155 unit) There are fuses adjacent to the battery too.

Hi Peter, yes the switch on the EC155 is on and lit up. The only fuses I can see are on this unit and I have pulled each one to check they are not blown.

Interesting, ask as keithc from Suffolk, reply as K & S from Halesworth.
There should be an inline fuse on the +ve cable close to the battery.

Re: EC155 & Sargent EC51 Control Panel issues
Copy this one off of my early posts
Hi
Below happened to me last year because of the vehicle battery protect system
I not started my van for a month, been away. This morning thought I better charge the vehicle battery as I know it will not start after a 3 week lay up. So put it on hook up turned battery charger on. Then switched the EC51 panel on at the press button, straight away the vehicle battery warning light was beeping and flashing. I could not get it to charge the vehicle battery. I have took the vehicle battery off the van and is charging in the garage over night. The battery was reading at 9 volts when taken off. So when I put battery back on hopefully it will reset the battery vehicle protect system. I think what I am trying to say is you may need to charge the vehicle battery on a different battery charger. When I refitted vehicle battery back fully charged the protect system was reset and could charge the vehicle battery from the vans internal charging system.

Re: EC155 & Sargent EC51 Control Panel issues
Thanks Stewart, I have charged the vehicle battery up and the leisure battery on a mobile charger but still the EC unit doesn’t seam to charge either battery. Might be a slightly different EC51 unit as I don’t get audible alarms just red flashing lights.
That said I won’t discount this heads up until I see as Peter is saying there might be another in line fuse issue.
Thanks again Regards Keith

Re: EC155 & Sargent EC51 Control Panel issues
Have you checked fuses in the EM40. .? I think that contains a fuse for vehicle battery.

Re: EC155 & Sargent EC51 Control Panel issues
Hi there, I have no idea where or what is a EM40 is?
Also neither battery is being charged by the EC155 not just the leisure battery so not sure if when I select either battery for the unit to recharge it matters if a fuse to the leisure battery alone would stop this process, but it might, so more investigation tomorrow.
Thanks to all for advice.

Re: EC155 & Sargent EC51 Control Panel issues
On my Sussex (Warwick) the EM40 is behind drivers seat mounted on the end panel of the kitchen. If you put EM40 in the search box at top, you'll find several threads with different locations.

Re: EC155 & Sargent EC51 Control Panel issues
Hi, trying to send this response again as can't see it appearing in this tread.
I don't seam to have any EM40 type interface, but Paul you were correct there is an inline fuse on the + leisure battery cable, but this is fine.
So still puzzled.

Re: EC155 & Sargent EC51 Control Panel issues
Keith,
Our 2015 Kemerton has the EC155 and EC51 power system, as well as a EM50 (similar functionality to a EM40). The latter is behind the driver’s seat, see picture below.
When the engine is running the blue LED above each of the vehicle and habitation battery icons on the EC51 both flash to denote charging.
I haven’t experienced the issue you have, but I can confirm Paul’s point that the EM interface unit has a vehicle battery fuse.
I recommend you call Sargent for advice, as I have always found their technical guys very helpful.

Re: EC155 & Sargent EC51 Control Panel issues
That’s great help many thanks. I can now see this EM50 unit as you described (or it might say EM51) the label is difficult to see as it has been applied horizontally.
There is a red LED which is lit under the fuses, do you know if yours shows this red light?
I will try to pull these fuses to check but so little room even with the seat racked forward.

Update Peugeot Kemerton 2012 Aitosleeper
Just an update in case it helps anybody else.
The fuses on the EM50 interface behind the drivers seat (what a place for access to put it!) seam fine.
So can't find any fuse/trip issue that might be preventing the charging when on mains of either the lessure battery or vehicle battery.
Haven't yet tried the actual Peugeot Boxer units vehicle fuse bank yet, but was assuming this is unlikely to be the issue.
Booked the van in for January with the dealer when I will have to take it off SORN & tax.
Worried I am missing something and they don't just say it needs a new EC155 unit at a high cost.
Anyway thanks to you guys who have given me some very helpful leads.
Regards Keith

Re: EC155 & Sargent EC51 Control Panel issues
All sorted Sargent on line helped and it was the charger within the EC155 unit that was faulty. For about £150 they will repair.
Thanks for your assistance.

Re: EC155 & Sargent EC51 Control Panel issues
Good that you’ve identified the fault.
Having a EC155 myself I’m interested to know how the repair is organised. Do Sargent instruct you to unplug the EC155 and send it to them, or do you have to get the van over to them?
Tim

Re: EC155 & Sargent EC51 Control Panel issues
Hi, they just ask me to send it back, you have to pay in advance. The EC51 panel they said, send that back also and if any problems with that unit they would sort FOC.
As I was considering part exchanging the van anyway for a 4 year later van (of the same type) I have taken it to a dealer who will remove and send the units back as part of the deal.
