Bathroom lining
The lining in the bathroom of our 2007 Duetto is starting to peel off from the backing. It appears to be a vinyl lining on a plywood panel. I’ve tried sticking it back with spray adhesive but although this has stuck it’s not a very neat or waterproof solution as the vinyl hasn’t gone back perfectly flat. Has anyone repaired this themselves?
My thoughts were that if all the fittings and trims were removed (assuming they could be) either new vinyl or another this sheet material could be fitted.
Obviously, whatever solution needs to be waterproof so that the shower can be used without soaking the backing wood.

Re: Bathroom lining
Our 1999 Symbol bathroom lining was getting a bit tatty so I removed it and replaced with sticky back vinyl tiles - see photos

That looks really impressive, Jeff! I particularly like the addition of storage in the window recess!!
Our 2000 Duetto toilet/shower is also looking tired, so I was already thinking of ways to refresh it.
How tricky was it to fit the sticky back tiles behind the basin, toilet etc? I'm thinking the original trims might be rather brittle now to safely undo and tease forward to allow getting the new covering behind. Was that a problem? Bear in mind your talking to someone here with two left hands full of thumbs!!

Re: Bathroom lining
The whole thing took a while. I decided to remove the old vinyl which was made easier by heating it with a hairdryer as it was peeled off. I guess you could sick the new tiles over the old vinyl - you might need a good quality vinyl to vinyl adhesive. After removing the old vinyl I spray painted the old yellowing plastic (including the sink!) white. The tiles come in 30cm squares are easy to trim with scissors and fit together quite easily. I didn’t remove any fittings, just tiled up to and cut round if necessary. Got rid of the cabinet as it wasn’t much use. The window recess is achieved by screwing a couple of pieces of aluminium (could use wood) to the window frame and painting.

Re: Bathroom lining
Forgot to mention, after fitting the tiles used a bathroom sealant all around the edges of fittings and corners to get a waterproof finish.

Thanks Jeff, that sounds achievable with even my meagre DIY skills. I like the idea of spraying the old plastic - you're right, when it has faded and yellowed it takes the edge off whatever other improvements you make. Yours looks so fresh.

Hmm… should be photos attached, will try again.
One day someone might actually sort this forum out to bring it up to date and make it more user friendly! At the moment it’s a bit of a pain!

Please don't knock the forum for its lack of ease, it's down to the forum hosts (forumotion) , there are hundreds of forums that use the same hosting platform. Remember it's also free (you can of course donate to help pay for the hosting) not like others motorhome forums that cost £20 per year such as MotorhhomeFun and Wildcamping.
You've obviously found how to post photos anyway.
