Item of mystery
I took ownership of a new Symbol Plus a few months ago and after solving a few problems and irritants I now feel content with the purchase.
My relationship with the west Wales dealership I bought it from is cool to cold, I don’t bother them because they bother me……but that’s another horror story. I don’t communicate with them to save my sanity. So I call on the Auto Sleeper Community to give me a clue.
With the van came two interlocking metal poles painted white, each about one metre long and they are protected in a beige felt quiver bag and found underneath the settee next to the batteries.
Has anyone any ideas what are they for……. thanx

Re: Item of mystery
They are probably poles used to support the plastic awning roof "canvas". They are rather heavy and I've read a report of them falling down and scratching the van.
I already had a Fiamma pole that does the same job, it's made of aluminium alloy not steel. With a bit of modification it works with our Thule awning. The Fiamma extending pole has plastic hooks both ends, far better that the poorly fixed Thule sprung poles.

Exactly as Relaxez-vous said. If you look at centre of awning cassette and centre of awning edge you should see protrusion to fit it into. Don’t think it’s needed really and mine lives in the loft!

All understood now, a sprung loaded rafter.
It looks very Un-Thule like, rather agricultural in fact.
I'm not the greatest fan of motorhome awnings especially having seen the results of a what a winter storm on a Spanish camp site can conjure up for them. Mangled wreckage and grown men crying.
I shall find room in my loft also
Thank you very much
I never feel relaxed with one up and would never leave one up overnight

Don't be in a hurry to store your centre stretcher away, especially if your on the coast with a side wards wind, a strong gust could twist your awing arms, the centre stretcher will help keep the awning rigid.

Mine has also been in the loft for the last three years
I do use my wind out awning regularly though! Just never had a need for this item
