Mystery light!
Hi folks,
I've had a 1989 VW T25 Auto-Sleeper Trident for 12 years now. Just to the right and below the heater, there is a small red light. In all the time I've owned the van I haven't known what it's for. (I can find no mention of it in the VW Manual.) I've just noticed that when the hazard lights are on, it also flashes.
Since this morning, however, the light is on all the time. Also, neither the indicators or hazards work!
Have changed the fuses...
Thanks,
Tim

Hi
Just a thought have you got tow bar electrics fitted could be for indicators when the 12n plug is connected.

Thanks Stewart. As far as I know, yes, the van does have tow-bar electrics, but I've never used them, and nothing's changed between yesterday and today that may have caused the light to come on...

I'd be suspecting the flasher relay (or whatever they use nowadays) as you say the indicators no longer work.

Re: Mystery light!
I had a tip from someone on the 80-90 forum, which was to wedge to hazard switch half-way into a sort of 'half on, half off' position. This is I did, and following an strange noise from the fuse box (or relay) it seemed to sort itself out. Mystery light off, indicators working again.
It's all a mystery to me...
