Warwick xl
The aerial base has failed on our Warwick xl. The nut has broken out of it plastic case now aerial is insecure.
Not sure how this has happened but I need to fit a new base. Before I start has anyone had to do this would appreciate any advice
Before I start pulling things apart.

Re: Warwick xl
The same happened on our 2020 Duo due, I think, to over tightening to the holding nut. AS said they'd not come across this before.....
I contemplated fitting new parts but, in the end, gave it a hefty dose of sealant and sold the van.

Re: Warwick xl
Id use this opportunity to bin the aerial and replace with one which works (assuming flying saucer type)
There's a coax in there, with luck properly wired to the amplifier so adding a new aerial should be easy enough?
Just thinking laterally!

Lantern……..sorry I cannot provide way ahead.I do agree with IanH’s suggestion if it’s straight forward.
I would like to ask if that once you have found the solution to post it, as it seems a situation many of us could come across at some point.

Re: Warwick xl
I ripped out the frustratingly unreliable flying saucer and replaced it with a Status 570 directional aerial (the type seen on caravans everywhere).
So far on about 15 different sites since fitting it has performed beyond my expectations and I’m very happy with it.
It wasn’t a job for the faint hearted as I had to drill a bigger hole in the vans roof and I’m not suggesting it’s the answer to your issue but as mentioned, getting a better aerial will definitely reduce your stress levels if a decent TV signal is important

Re: Warwick xl
I had the same problem as Lantern, I think the Aerial assembly is sub standard Chinese rubbish. I took mine off, sealed the hole and re-jigged the Aerial amp at the junction box in the wardrobe to exclude the roof co-axial feed. I bought a magnetic base August DTA240 - High Gain Freeview TV Aerial from Amazon and simply plug it in to the side connection that is normally used for site provided TV signal. It is designed in the UK but probably manufactured in China but it works really well, you have just got to remember to take it down when you break camp.

Re: Warwick xl
Thanks to all for the replies. I think I might go down the magnetic route, I have a cap and replacement base, but I think I will fit the cap on for now until I can find out how difficult and how much of the interior will have to be moved. Having had a closer look at the old base it looks like it might have been damaged when fitted, there is sealant underneath where the nut was, this might have weakened the plastic when the bolt was inserted. According to the fitting instructions there shouldn’t be any sealant in that position.

Mine was a Duo and I deliberately sold it to a dealer rather than a private sale.jerry wrote:
