Hi, just wondered if anybody has encountered the same or similar problems, and any advice on where to obtain gearbox repair/ spares which I've been told are pretty difficult to get, i would appreciate any help you can.

You haven’t said what the problem is. As much detail as possible may help somebody to offer advice.

If you do a search on the forum you will find a couple of sources. Unfortunately folks have had problems finding reconditioners due to parts availability so the topic has been well covered over the years
Best of luck

As said above we need a lot more information that that!
Start with first registration date, chassis number, engine number, engine size, assume its a 5 speed box (?) what fault does it have.
Be good to introduce yourself on the Hello part of the welcome section too!
I know of a specialist in Norwich.

The problem is stated in this forum's infamous "subject line that nobody can see":
"Slight crunch when changing down from 3rd to 2nd"
But agreed - more info would help!

In that case, there's more likely help to be had from Peugeot forums.
It may be a simple job of adjusting the clutch but, whether it's that or a shot gearbox, a repair garage will be needed.

Re: Peugeot symbol gearbox problem
Most likely worn synchromesh by the sound of it. If the part is available it could be repaired, but would be a fair amount of labour to remove the gearbox, disassemble, replace the synchromesh cones, reassemble and refit, so it would be worth replacing anything else in there that’s worn at the same time. Probably more economical to get an exchange reconditioned gearbox instead though, if one can be found of course.

I'd just leave it alone to be honest unless it was impossible & possibly just change gear more slowly and rev-match, or even double-declutch for that gear.
£2000 could disappear easily on that job.

With an exchange reconditioned gearbox it could maybe be less than half that. There are places who will supply and fit.

I think I would learn to double declutch and see if that stops the crunch. If it does you have saved yourself a lot of money and it will soon become second nature to you.
