Pull out pan drawer Empty Pull out pan drawer

Problem is the pull out pan drawer under the cooker on the Warwick got jammed, cause was one of the 1/2" L screws had come loose and jammed the metal sliding runners.

I managed to free to with brute force, hence some of the other screws have now pulled out. Owing to the thickness of the drawer sides and the carcass, looks like you can only use 1/2" L screws.

Not much room under there for a 73 year old to move around, but I suppose the best way forward is to fill the existing screw holes with tooth picks or matchstickes and wood glue. Cannot really use bigger screw than 3.5mm head as they stop the slides from opening.

Fridge side is a problem with longer screws, but the cupboard to the right I could place a strip of wood inside to enable longer screws.

Just wondering if any one else has had this problem. Always something new goes wrong confused3

I had a simular problem with draws on a nuevo and did exactly what you are doing.  Just keep building holes up until you get good resistance from screws it will be stronger than origional

Thank you gef, looks like that's the best way forward.

Just wish it was a bit of an easier place to work on.

I carry these 5mm RAWL plugs. I cut them to length with wire cutters, sometimes I bed them into super glue or adhesive sealer. A great many of the screws in my van are now secured this way.
