Engine red warning light.
Engine red warning light showing (looks like shower head), engine cuts out occasionally at low revs. Also speedometer has stopped working. Garages including Peugeot garage have looked but say it’s not compatible with any of their on board diagnostic tools so they can’t find or fix any faults. We’re desperate now. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Re: Engine red warning light.
Many thanks Paulmold. Dealership has now done a 'major service', highlighted many expensive potential problems, none of which would solve our initial problems. Son has increased the tickover and that seems to help as engine is not cutting out at moment, however red light is still on.
Biggest problem now is the speedometer which suddenly stopped working. Two garages (including Peugeot) say they can't do anything because can't read with OBDs. We can't find out even if it's electrical or mechanical which might help.
Anyone know of a helpful "old school" car mechanic. We're willing to pay of course. In my eighties so not really able to do it myself any more. Thanks for reading.

Re: Engine red warning light.
What base vehicle (Petrol/diesel, engine size etc) is this on?
Ours failed a few years ago, also preventing the retro-fitted cruise control from operating. It operates from an electronic sensor connected to the gearbox via a little gear wheel and this had failed. The transducer was a but hard to get hold of at the time but Peugeot Customer Services eventually tracked one down in Belgium. They seem to be readily available now.

Thanks Roger. It's a Peugeot Boxer Petrol 2000cc. Main problem seems to be that the on board diagnostics that all the garages rely on now, was not fitted generally until just after ours was built.

You may find this company very good for spares for Boxers. If your speedo turns out to be the drive in the gearbox, they have several to choose from, scroll though to see their range of spares...

Re: Engine red warning light.
I have a diagnostic lead that may fit ,is it the 2 pin lead your after, I had to buy this for my 2001 Fiat Ducato and then used Fiat scan diagnostic software on the laptop to read the error codes

Thanks Freelander. I don't know - sorry it's all a bit beyond me. I'll consult with my son.

This is the connection on the lead, the early connection was obd1, the newer connection is obd 2
