Thetford Fridge Vent Covers
Bought a new Warwick XL in December having previously owned the same model. The old van had flyscreen mesh panels inside the fridge vent covers. I have only just noticed that there are none in the new van vents.
Should these have been supplied as standard?

Re: Thetford Fridge Vent Covers
Never had any on my 2018 Symbol. Another cost cutting exercise I guess.

Re: Thetford Fridge Vent Covers
Are you talking about the removable winter vents or the ones behind them that on my van have the mesh fitted ? My 2015 fridge is a Dometic.

My 2019 does not have mesh behind fridge vents so they probably have not been fitting them for a while.

Hi Richard, how are things?
Sounds like A/S moved to Thetford sometime between 2015 and 2018.
My winter covers have been in the loft since I bought the van.
The standard vents don’t have mesh.

Re: Thetford Fridge Vent Covers
My 2012 van has a Thetford fridge, no winter covers so I cut some sheet vinyl flooring to fit between the outer louvred vent which clips on with two retaining catches and the supplied insect mesh panels.

As I have a 2019 Kemerton XL I asked A-S about fridge vents mesh screens last autumn, they did not come as standard. You might still be able to buy them from elsewhere as I did. I suspect in hot weather they slightly reduce the efficiency of the fridge. If you buy mesh screens, check you buy the right size.

My 2015 Nuevo has the Thetford fridge. It does have the winer covers going over the louvres (which I use) but, inside the louvres, there are no fly screens or mesh. And I've not had uninvited insects entering that way as far as I know.

Re: Thetford Fridge Vent Covers
Although my cavity is very sealed as far as combustion gases are concerned insects could get in via a gap between the plastic wheel arch and the cabinet side, probably sealed on yours Cymro, by the insulation mat that A/S fitted on your vintage. So I'm glad to have the screens. I fitted a home made thermostatic can to sort hot weather ventilation behind the fridge.Cymro wrote:My 2015 Nuevo has the Thetford fridge.
