Pressures again
Morning all and a happy Xmas to you and yours,
Just a thought, what tyre pressure do you run on in your WXL when your pretty much up to payload limit?
Have a good un tomorrow

Re: Pressures again
That’s a big subject which may lead to so many answers...................but for what it’s worth I run 65R 60F which is a little below door plate figures.

Re: Pressures again
Mines not an XL but a Duo and my door sticker says 59.5F and 65R . I run at those despite Michelin advice to run rears at 80 which shakes the fillings out of my teeth.
Does your XL not have TPMS ? If it has, that's a totally different ball game as the War and Peace thread on that subject proves.

Re: Pressures again
As Paul suggests TPMS can come into play.... but again for what its worth mine has it fitted and the pressures I run have not given any issues.

Re: Pressures again
I run the front at 4.5 ATM and rear at 5, with air suspension at 2atm. Seems to work well with the new camper tyres I fitted recently. Having said that the TPM system that was fitted when we bought the van shows front varying between 4.2 and 4.9 depending on temperature, influenced by weather, and distance travelled.

Re: Pressures again
ATM=Bar= 14.5 psi (ish!)
Mine is at 60psi all round, as most motorhomes are always at or near max weight, there's no need I can see to change with payload.
There have been a million discussion's on this see SEARCH above, and roughly 999,999 different opinions!!
60 works for me, I can also measure tyre temperature remotely, if that was too low a pressure I'd expect to see a higher temp rise. Mine is 6 to 8c above stationary before starting the journey.

Re: Pressures again
Thanks for all the information and advice. Because of lockdown and some family issues I've hardly touched the van since we bought it new at the end of October.
I didn't even give TPMS a thought and not too sure how it works to be honest I really must find time to study the handbook. Does it show me what the pressures are or does it work like the Tyrepal system and just give a warning when pressures fall low?

Re: Pressures again
You will have the same Peugeot TPMS that I have. It's set in the Peugeot factory around the plated CP tyre pressures of 5.5 bar rear an 5.0 bar front but that does not mean it will trigger at these pressures. I found you can run at at least 0.5 bar below these pressures before the TPMS triggers. When it tiggers and only when it triggers, you will be able to see the pressure of the offending tyre(s). If it's not triggered you can't see the pressures. If it triggers and you want to reset it, you have to re-inflate to the plated pressures and run the vehicle for a short distance. If you are prepared to pay, Peugeot dealers will adjust the TPMS to trigger at lower pressures if you provide them with a suitably worded recommendation from the tyre manufacturer.Sapper wrote:Thanks for all the information and advice. Re: Pressures again
I know this again could become a long thread.
60F 65R PSI on our xl 2014 rear air suspension 1.5 bar ,no idea if ours has TPMS.
I set ours down to that level after reading on here as much as possible, taking in all information and thoughts.
results are:
real world ride good (better) , road noise good, traction good, no noticeable higher tyre heat, tyre wear good and even, fuel consumption no change and as checked before every trip " tyres inflation looks right".
sorry you could not have got out more in your XL. Roll on 2021.

Thanks mate, yep really looking forward to next spring (hopefully we will be able to travel then).
I'm in my young eighties but still waiting to get my covid jab, reckon they've forgot me.

Re: Pressures again
Mines a 2019 WXL and does not have the tyre pressure monitor as I suspect nor will the 2020 model, I also run 60F and 65R.
