Symbol 2008 Tip up sink
Hi All,[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I have found what seems to be a major problem with the tip up sink. The Sink housing is moulded into the rear panel of the bathroom. The sink doesn't close correctly and has to be held in place with a rubber to stop it falling down. After further inspection I have found that the slides on which the sink round runners which allow the sink to swivel and hinge (one either side) are cracked and damaged. In addition to this there are cracks to the back plate either side at the rear of the taps. Having removed the sink I have also found that the tank used to collect the water and drain away is loose and is held on with what I can only describe as some form of white gaffer tape.
My question is, has anybody else experienced this. It would seem that the whole of the rear panel would have too be replaced with a new sink. From what I can see off pictures of other Symbols this panel was used up to approx 2014/15 but could be later.
Has anybody replaced this panel or had similar problems. i have been in touch with AS spares but have had no response as yet.
Thanks
Steve

New complete units are available from O'Learys Motorhomes. I think the one you have is the Contessa, there is another called the Cleo, check out their website.

Apologies, I expected a 2008 to have similar to my 2010 Sussex.
Have a word with Cheltenham Laminates who make most if not all of AS moulded components.

I had the same type of cracks on our 2007 Topaz. AS response" you cleaned it with the wrong cleaner" Haa Haa don't pull that one I said to Mr Curry.
They replaced the entire bathroom, offered me a deal, but as I had to pay £1000+ I know it was a one sided deal. Also had to rent accommodation for 3 days + travel costs. Then it cracked again after 3 years so ditched it for the Duo, no wonder they stopped making the Topaz, your Symbol looks like the same design.
