Completed two jobs of my list to do to the new to me WXL, fitted a Van blitz Battery Master with the connection at the EC500 , so no extra cable to run to the starter battery,

Hard wired the Nextbase gw512 dash cam in ,pretty straight forward, and the half a job completed was drilling two 19mm holes in the pillar trim between the sliding door and passenger door to match up with a hole under the trim for a riv nut then drilling another hole for the other riv nut

These are to fasten a grab handle to to aid the wife getting in and out, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]not finish as need the correct riv nut tool to tighten them , Amazon prime to the rescue will be here in the morning

Contemplating putting a handle on the unit at the other side also , but will let the wife see how she goes first with this one

Riv nut gun came and was able to finish the job so 3 jobs completed 😀

Think it looks great ,with it being a Fiat part it is a colour match for the plastic trim

Again, great job!

Can you share some more details with us?

A link to the riv nut gun perhaps, and a part number for the handle would be ideal allthumbz

The grab handle came of eBay item number 391624948095 and the riv nut tool from Amazon    [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Took about an hour and half in total to do , the handle boss’s had to be cut to size to allow a flush fit to the trim , hope that helps RogerThat

A couple more jobs done today, new cooker glass lid fitted ,new panel on the drivers seat base, someone had fastened the fire extinguisher to it narrowing the space to move threw so now it’s behind the drivers seat and the new panel get rid of the screw holes, did the mod to the rear panels of the seat bases to allow easy access, , used magnets to secure and final job of the day fitted my new number plates[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I think I’m correct in saying that AutoSleeper fitted the fire extinguisher to the seat base. I’ve seen it on lots of models. What did you use to move/hold it in its new position if you don’t mind me asking.

It’s still fitted to the seat base but just at the back of the drivers seat base , I just unscrewed the holder and screwed to the panel at the back with a piece of wood to strengthen the fixing

New panel was from coastal Motorhomes at a cost of £34next day delivery

hi Chris, side exit door handle looks very good. Was there not already captive nuts already there in the body shell , factory fitted too allow a factory fitted handle for mini bus variants etc. ? Just out of interest or did you want yours at a different height? very good mod as stated above and the repositioning of the extinquisher.

The holes are there but no nuts , the handle even though it’s a Fiat one it’s supposed to be fitted to the Pillar between the passenger door and screen and so a different size, I used one of the preformed rivnut hole then just drilled a hole for the other riv nut

Here's our fire extinguisher, simply move the umbrella base and one clip up, plenty room now below for extinguisher, also easy to access from outside side door.....

Another quick (ish) job completed Freelander this one a soap holder for the otherwise excellent drop down sink design. The soap place on this would struggle to keep the soap in place on a stationary canal boat!
All plastic (foamboard), dowels and toothpics then plastic primed then white painted. Held in place by 4 x M5 steel washers (clear nail varnish to stop rusting) and 4 x 5mm dia magnets. The drain holes and mounting it on the existing ridges allow it to stay dry and clean, should be self explanatory..........
Sorry if hogging your post though....!

Another couple of mods today, sorted out the umbrella holder behind the drivers seat , an ehiem fits tank filter sucker with a tool clip fastened to it stuck to the wood with extra strong double sided tape and the lid of a bottle of pop stuck wth the same tape to stop the umbrella wondering,

A truma adjustable directional vent fitted instead of the grill in the step at the front and a couple of screws in the panel holding the fire extinguisher[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Many thanks to Bilbo and Chris for the rivnut info.  I am now satisfactorily informed  !!
Still can't work out how I got as old as I am without the pleasure of using a Rivnut.

Try googling Grab handle Fiat Ducato , brings up several results. The one I fitted was for a VW, I searched for grab handle.

This is very interesting and is one of the next things we want to address in our own modification.
Do you have any pictures of the connection? I tried to find the cable that comes from the vehicle battery and goes into the EC500 but no luck so far.
What is the size of that cable?

Thanks

I opened up the EC 500 and on the PCB are 2 connected wires and the PCB is marked with van and leisure so I just tapped into these wires with the connectors provided when I bought the battery master
