Transit Mk5 '98 Duetto Heater Blower resistor
The van's heater blower motor is only working on setting 3 at the moment, which normally means it's the blower motor resistor at fault. Before I dismantle the front of the van, would anyone know where the resistor is located and the best way to access it please.

It's a while since I last looked at one, but I'm pretty sure it can be accessed under the dash, on the central side of the passenger footwell.
Be warned - although the resistor is the most likely candidate, I had a similar issue on my Mk5 and I removed and tested the resistor which was fine. The fault was in the switch. But try the resistor first as the switch is (from memory) very expensive!

I should have said - on mine there were 4 speeds - 1, 2, 3 and full speed. If that's true of yours then it's unlikely to be the resistor at fault. However, if 3 is full speed on yours, the resistor is certainly a candidate.

Only the 3 speeds on this one. I guess the 4th speed was on the 'deluxe' model only .

IIRC it was one of the changes that they made very late in the life of the Mk5. A bit of a pointless "feature" to add an extra speed - I suspect it was only done so that they could use the same switch as they used in other Ford cars of the period!

Just found it.
For reference for others on here, it is a 1997 Duetto, is located behind the offside (RH) headlamp behind the grille.

Same here - last time I worked on one was probably 10 years ago - but I'm 100% sure that the one on my Mk5 was under the dash! Ah well, glad you found it.

Thanks Roopert.
At least I found it in the end. It's all part of the familiarisation process. I was pleasantly surprised at how easily the dash comes apart. Much simpler than modern vehicles.

Ooops - sorry about that... I should probably do the right thing and offer to come and help put the dash back together, but from here to Honiton is a bit of a trek!
