1997 Duetto Roof light/vent
Good morning,
Identified a leak in the toilet compartment, seems to be oozing in at the top rear around the little cabinet, the ceiling is pretty damp. Looks as if it could be the rooflight vent seal although unconfirmed until I can take a proper look.
Can anyone please advise if it would be better to repair or replace and where to buy the spares and materials from....any tips greatly appreciated.
Best Regards
Keo

I replaced the bathroom roof vent on our Duetto because the outer cover was loose. When I removed the old one there was a bead of mastic about 1/8” wide between the roof and the vent.
I bought mastic type tape when I fitted the new vent, it was about 1/2” wide. It was too wide but after trimming off the excess it didn’t leak.
If the roof vent is not damaged you might get away with just taking it off and re-sealing it.
Not a bad job to do because it’s near the edge of the roof and can be reached from a ladder against the side of the van.

Given the age of your van and i suspect quite possibly the original vent, i'd replace the entire vent with new. Don't worry, at just £35 complete it makes patching or buying spares a 'no brainer' and this is the guy to buy from;Keo wrote:Good morning,

When i had my Duetto i bought lots of bits from him and his service is brilliant. He's also very knowledgeable so don't hesitate to ask any questions if you buy from him.
I replaced my toilet/shower compartment vent two years ago and ordered it from him (it's a 280 x 280 MPK). Not being confident alone on ladders i decided to get a local mobile caravan service guy fit it which turned out to be a wise decision. Removal is easy enough but on refitting the new one he found there is a slight curvature of the roof where the outer part of the vent sits so to get it to 'seat' right required a little fetteling of the plastic frame. Dry fit first to ensure you have a good flush fit, then remove and use a good mastic sealant for final bonding.
