How strong is my roof
Is the roof of my 2019 Nuevo strong enough to walk on. Obviously the safety side is questionable but it would make life easier to clean it.

I haven't been 75kg since I was a child. Disqualified on more than one criteria.

Re: How strong is my roof
I had that information in the handbook of my 2007 Rienza. The main body of the roof was fine, the rear mounted ladder made access fairly straightforward and the roof had moulded upstands along both edges which together with the roof bars gave a degree of safety when splashing the fairy liquid around when I cleaned the sap and algae off it. The roof was rigid and took my weight which was in excess of 75kg.
However the overcab area (not a high Luton style) was definitely not an area to put any weight. Simply pressing on it created a lot of flex, so if you venture up there a little exploration might be in order.

Re: How strong is my roof
I reckon that I scrape in (clothed) at 75kg. My feet are not square but I reckon that my weight gives 4 or 5 times the recommended max of 8kg per sq ft. That's a NO-NO. You might get away with it by putting a sturdy board on top to spread the load.
I find that the best way to clean the roof is from a ladder using some large pipe insulation as padding.

I used to clean our 09 Nuevo and 08 Sigma van roof via the Heki 3 roof vent, only managed the centre area, however cleaned the outer edges by standing on a ladder or podium.

In a word No! Even if using crawling boards I would suggest you are storing up future troubles as you will no doubt stress the seal around roof vents etc and believe me they can be barely adequate even on a new van .....best thing as others have said is a long handled brush and work from either side of the van either on an A frame type ladder or leaning on the side of the van with some sort of foam protection .Flash wrote:Is the roof of my 2019 Nuevo strong enough to walk on. No doubt there will be someone on saying they are 34 stones and regularly performed an Irish jig on their roof for 25 years but I for one would not want THAT van 2nd hand!

It could be your brand new van, I was shocked to see Marquis lads stomping around on the roof of a new van with a jet wash getting it ready for customer collection.

Exactly, it wont belong to them and when the roof leaks they gey the warranty work and can blame it on poor manufacture!

I'm 90kgs and go on the roof of our 2002 Ravenna to clean it.
I do it on hands and knees to spread the weight out and the roof doesn't seem to unduly flex or suffer.
