Replacement 'hessian' for Trooper Empty Replacement 'hessian' for Trooper

Post by GaryH2UK Fri Aug 30, 2019 8:00 pm

We had a water incursion that has badly stained the hessian roof above the drivers seat in our Trooper.

Does anyone know where I could get replacement hessian from?

Many thanks

Why don`t you get the stains out, saves replaces hessian. , which could be harder than you think.

Put some vanish or Aldis spray stain remover in a dish, with a toothbrush put it on the stains working it in, leave for a minute or two, then with cold water on a sponge rinse leave to dry, not soaking wet though.

I can guarantee   this does work, cannot even see any stains.

I recently had the top windows leak in my Topaz, , after previously paying for a mobile registered service who resealed them when I first bought the van to make sure, after the heavy rains of a few weeks ago they leaked, so last week had another firm take out both windows and after cleaning fitted resealed them,

I was left with the stains so I tackled them as above, and it has worked a treat.

Looked to redoing the hessian but it goes behind the wall cabinets and I know how well built the old AS vans are, as the cleaning works so well. I don`t have to.

Give it a go, nothing to lose.wear rubber gloves I didn`t for a while and it doesn`t do your skin much good.

Best regards,
Margaret

Agreed - it's worth trying to get the staining out, though IIRC there was still a very faint bluish tint on mine even after cleaning. Another option might be to ask A/S if they still stock the hessian-type fabric. It's a few years back now, but when I asked they had found a different source which was a slightly different colour but the same overall texture.

I haven`t any tint or shadow left on mine.

Many thanks for the advice. I'll give it a go this weekend and let you know how it goes.

If the fabric is that beige stuff they used for years, as in our early Duetto, it is referred to as "Cockcroft" by AS.
