Peugeot boxer/autosleeper reliability
Hi All
Being a new owner of a Symbol 2019 picking up on the 11th July (excited or what ! LOL) just wondering about the reliability of the Boxer's engine/gearbox etc and the Autosleeper fitment, anything I should keep an eye open for that could miss a beat ?

The base vehicle before conversion is a workhorse and designed to cover many thousands of miles. I don’t see any reason why that won’t continue as a motorhome/camper.
As in all marques, some will have problems, some will not. My Boxer has covered close to 21000 trouble free miles since 2017 and long may that continue.

No real problems, had the usual dash warning dim lights, which I would expect have been fixed by now, anyway Peugeot main agent swopped the dash out in 10 mins under warranty.
Otherwise just small snags with habitation fittings.
As has been said, these vans are thrashed about as commercial vans and cover 1000,s of miles a year, maybe that's why they last and not driven carefully!

Re: Peugeot boxer/autosleeper reliability
It's a very well established base vehicle, nothing to worry about.
There's is one thing to watch out for though in terms of servicing as it's not obvious to all.
The 1st service is after 2 years or so many miles, and most people in motorhomes don't get anywhere near that mileage so the 2 years is fine, however there's an exception that you should also get the oil changed after only 12 months if your mileage is under 6k (if memory serves).
So if you don't go for huge touring this year and unlikely to cover that sort of mileage, pencil in a 12 month service period. Also, depending on how long AS had the van when converting it, you may get the change oil light come on very early - mine did after only 6 months of ownership.

I agree with Greyhound. My oil quality light came on early too and rather than risk resetting and ignoring it like some do, it made far more sense and peace of mind to have new oil and a filter.

As Kingham said, in general they're very good, reliable vehicles but some individual vans will have issues. Ours, for example.
We had a failure of the DPF Atomising Injector (whatever that might be!) at around 16000 miles, resulting in limp mode and AA recovery to the Pug Dealer twice and limping in a third time. It was, eventually, replaced under warranty and has been trouble free since (I ignore the shift indicator and keep the revs over 2000 rpm, but, that's probably just paranoia on my part).
Despite that issue, I like the base vehicle, it's comfortable and easy to drive, whatever the road type and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Boxer based Motorhome.
Tommy.

I agree with the oil change at 12 months.
Just wish I had bought an automatic, my left shoulder hurts after 4 weeks gear changing in France!, not the lightest gear box to use.
