1999 Symbol - replacement radio aeriel
The time has come to replace the tatty radio aeriel on my van. Can anyone advise where a replacement can be sourced and advise how to remove old and fit new aeriel?
As always, help would be much appreciated
Cheers

My Symphony had a rubber wing mounted one which worked fine...

Can you access the underside of your existing aerial for removal?

Luckily for you!!Robbit M wrote:Hello Paul
Wing mounted
On the Duetto they were roof mounted and fitting a replacement is a nightmare involving removal of two inner roof sections (a lot of screws to undo!). Fitting is also a two man job...it's impossible to do it single handed which in your case, you should be able to do.

Basically, you need to remove the wing to gain access to the fitting. Not a big job but you do need sealant when it comes to replace

Should say that's on the Peugeot van at any rate

Thanks everyone. Will take a look. Removing the wing sounds a bit scary

I seem to remember changing the aerial on my symphony when I had it. I think it was just a matter of taking out a few of the screws holding the plastic inner wing just enough to get your hand between.then feeding the cable through to the cab.

Robbit....if you find this ^^^ isn't possible on your van, then i'd be tempted to fit another aerial elsewhere. The possibility of outer wing removal certainly seems somewhat drastic just for an aerial!fenderbender wrote:I seem to remember changing the aerial on my symphony when I had it. If the existing aerial is a rubber one, it may be possible to simply replace the rubber stem if the base is the same as a new one.

Re: 1999 Symbol - replacement radio aeriel
So I finally returned to this challenge today. I was able to simply unscrew the aeriel from its base on the wing. See photo for image of what I am now left with! Any ideas how I can replace this ??!!

I'm assuming you have the aerial co-ax lead which should have an O ring soldered to the end? That fits over the long thread to form a connection with the aerial. Whatever you do, don't lose sight of that lead or you will be firking around searching for the end!
As the aerial is a wing mount any similar one piece will do the job. Either have a look on ebay or go to your local accessory shop. Here is a similar one of ebay; [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Re: 1999 Symbol - replacement radio aeriel
Hi,
I had loads of trouble trying to get my radio working on my symbol, I found the original aerial lead fitted by Peugeot lurking behind the radio, originally must have had a roof aerial, found the other end behind the cab roof light and considered fitting a roof aerial and joining it to this but then I found the radio aerial plug from the wing aerial had a broken wire and when repaired all OK, does look horrible though.

Re: 1999 Symbol - replacement radio aeriel
I have actually just been able to clean and refit the existing aeriel for now. It seems that the cable is connected to the socket under the wing and the aeriel just screws into this socket.
Bigger problems with the van just now so will probably leave it at that for now.
