CD radio replacement and Hello
Hi, I am pleased to join this forum as a new owner of a 2001 Peugeot Symbol.
We upgraded from a Mazda Bongo, so it seems HUGE and luxurious with a toilet!!!!!!
But we need to upgrade the radio which doesn’t appear to work, and want a radio/cd player, which appears to be old fashioned nowadays!
Any advice please?
Many thanks
Sue

Not sure if current car radios still have CD players, most have USB and / or SD card slots, which is what we have on ours which we replaced several years ago. This works very well since even multi-CD players were usually restricted to 6 or so CDs - you can now have hundreds on a single USB or SD. If you have a laptop or PC with a CD player built in it is very easy to copy those over, generally best to do this onto your hard drive thereafter it's a simple job to copy to USB or SD as required - also means you can play on the computer too.
I have my whole music collection, even from my old vinyl records, now stored in this way. When you buy CDs from Amazon these days, the downloadable version is often available as well for no extra cost. Or you can just buy the download version without the CD anyway.
The other option is to have the sound files on your phone and play on the car radio from that via USB or Bluetooth.
PS I stand corrected - Halfords for example do still list a number of models with built-in CD players. However I would still advise going down the USB stick / SD card route as it saves carrying loads of physical CDs and having to keep changing them especially when on the move.

I still love CD's as you can pick em up in charity shops for 50p, you cant download an album for 50p. having said that Ive downloaded my favourites to my laptop and then onto phone and tablet so i dont have to take the CD's in the van, just a small bluetooth speaker.

You're lucky with a 2001 van. Swapping out the radio for a .modern one is easy. On later vans with CANBUS they have to be 'accepted' by the CANBUS which means that your friendly neighborhood Peugeot dealer has the chance to lift £50 or .more from your wallet. I believe that connection of steering wheel controls can also be problematic. I'd love to be able to incorporate Bluetooth and usb into mine but the best I could do was a cigarette lighter adaptor that connects to the radio via FM.
