I can’t advise on the model, but if nothing else he could check the mot history online before he goes.  It may save him a wasted journey if nothing else.

We have a 2005 Symbol. Had it for 2 years now. Fortunately we were given full service, MOT and habitation history. More than happy with our "Betsy". Good luck! agree3 agree3 agree3
