Autosleeper Symbol 2005 service
I have a Peugeot Boxer 2005 based A/S Symbol which has covered nearly 30,000 mls - I'm don't have a local Peugeot service centre where I live in SW Scotland - can someone tell me when the rubber timing/drive belts in the engine should be replaced?
How do I find out when a service is due and what's involved in the service.
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Autosleeper Symbol 2005 service
If you know that they are all the originals, I would have the lot replaced.
The timing belt is critical - at 10 years old it could go at any time. In reality it's far more likely to last another 10 years, but it's too big a risk - most modern engines are an "interference design" so if it fails while the engine is running there will probably be lots of collateral damage.
The rest of the belts are probably worth doing anyway, just to avoid the inconvenience of having one break while you're on the road...

Thanks for your advice guys - I'll get them changed pronto.
Any idea how I determine when and what service is due, I can't find any service info in the boxer handbook.

Do you have a service stamp book? The service schedule and items for service are usually given in that.

Re: Autosleeper Symbol 2005 service
Obviously mileage should determine service intervals, but as a rule of thumb for me, my van is serviced every other year. By service I mean oils and filters changed and inspection of brakes etc.
Done at same time as MOT.
About 5-6K per year.

it should be 72k miles or 10 years and low mileage isn't always a good thing for timing belts etc.
