Drop down roof vent cover
Just back from 10 wonderful days on Suffolk coast - van performed beautifully on first trip of year, One minor issue - the drop down vent cover was showing signs of aging - had glued a broken hinge clip last year and attached the retaining clip for the blind, was not straight so blind kept closing unannounced - simple solution was a piece of card inserted to keep the blind level.
Now in a situation where the blind will not retract - reluctant to use force - hoping to replace.
Has anybody any ideas - will Autosleeper have these for a 1999 van or will I have to trawl the net?
Thanks in advance
John

Re: Drop down roof vent cover
Unfortunately they do get brittle with age, and sadly A/S is very unlikely to stock them. It may be worth phoning to ask on Tuesday because they have advertised very old stock in the past in the clearance sales, but I doubt that something so fragile will still be in stock.
In the meantime, probably best to remove the cover (carefully - IIRC it requires some force) and see if the blind is either jammed or can be rewound.

Roof vents are standard sizes and fitted to thousands of caravans. Any decent caravan shop will stock them . The blinds can be bought separately or with the flyscreen.

Thanks for replies, will do both - hopefully will be able to just buy the drop down cover. As stated age does make them go brittle.

I recommend you give this guy a call [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I've bought lots of parts from him as his prices are cheaper than i can buy local...even after paying p&p. Plus he's a really decent chap with a wealth of information and doesn't sell you anything you don't need. Phone him and he will sort you. I actually replaced the part you need on my van only last year! I also bought a new rear roof vent off him. Worth remembering they are made in beige or white.
