Kingham - Hob Wind Deflector
Trawling through some old posts of mine, it’s nearly 2 years since I mentioned the Kingham needing a wind deflector to allow cooking with the side door open and realised I didn’t provide an update.
I decided in the end to bend a strip of aluminium chequer plate and it works perfectly, I’ve never had a lit gas hob blow out since. I made the finished dimension to suit the width of a top cupboard for storage, where it also doubles up to prevent stuff falling out after a bumpy journey.

Good, simple idea, might try and find a bit of aluminium chequer plate and fashion one myself. How high is it and how long are the two returns?

Don’t understand why yours hasn’t got wind deflectors on hob, our Kingham of same age came with them on?

Our 2017 Kingham does not have wind deflectors, perhaps the dealer forgot to (a) check them (b) identify them to us at the handover.

Sorry for the delayed response, I’ve been travelling in the Bank Holiday traffic most of the day (bad planning )
The strip is 100mm high and the returns 55 and 35mm, the longer one of which I place behind the glass lid.

I went to my local dealer and down to the NEC in October 2016 and neither of the display Kinghams had them fitted. I paid my deposit for a 6 month new build to be ready for my birthday in April 2017 and mine didn’t come with them fitted. It wasn’t something I queried, as I’d never seen a Kingham with them on at that point and it was only after my gas kept blowing out that I decided to make something.
I can only assume that it’s something AS phased in as they rolled the 2017 Kinghams out and yours was one of the later ones ?
I’ve seen your pics and the fitted ones certainly look better, but I’ll manage with my home made one for now.

That’s blown my theory out of the water then

Re: Kingham - Hob Wind Deflector
Probably the build date is more important, than the registration date.

Our 2015 Kingham also has the same wind deflectors as Mel.

Re: Kingham - Hob Wind Deflector
In which case I can’t follow what AutoSleeper are doing.
I thought perhaps there were two types of oven/hobs being fitted, but I’ve zoomed in on Mel’s picture and it looks identical to mine (except for the deflectors) ??

Maybe an oversight on the production line or someone nicked them before your Kingham was handed over... can't think why it is missing?

Re: Kingham - Hob Wind Deflector
When I was looking for my Symbol 6 months ago I did notice that there was a point when the deflectors stopped being fitted to the Triplex unit as has been mentioned (not sure if that’s the hob/oven you have).
Pictures on the net of new ones would also indicate that they are no longer fitted.

On ours both the wind deflectors and glass cover do tend to rattle so we position a tea towel beneath the glass and shields, simple and effective.

Re: Kingham - Hob Wind Deflector
Oops need to qualify my response, my wife reminded me ours used to jingle. If you blow up picture can see I stuck on some self adhesive drawer buffers on outer side of wind shields so glass lid when closed sits on these and stops noise!
