Hartford door problems
The lower catch on our habitation door is faulty. We’ve taken it to our local dealer who has stripped the door down and found a broken spring. They’re having trouble sourcing a new one. Does anyone have any ideas where we can get one? Thanks all.

Re: Hartford door problems
If I remember correctly when the Windsor’s catch spring broke our local motor accessory shop supplied me a matching spring from a large selection box. Think local dealer was talking over £100 for supplying and fitting a new bottom catch. Who is your dealer Flintshire?

Our van has had a new spring fitted at Willersey today. Give them a ring.

Quilter, is that Marquis at Willersey?
P.S. obviously everyone has realised the subject line should say Hartal, not Hartford! Autocorrect strikes again!!

No, The Autosleeper factory/ service department at Willersley just outside Broadway.

Re: Hartford door problems
Thank you. Unfortunately we haven’t got an Autosleeper now so they may not help, but it’s worth a try to avoid a couple of hundred pounds for a new lock!

Re: Hartford door problems
I notice the new Autosleepers have Metalarte doors now so perhaps AS have some spare springs for the wretched Hartal doors ?
Good luck with the search. It’s so frustrating when a van costing £60 thousand plus is effectively disabled for want of a 5p spring.

Re: Hartford door problems
I had a Symphony which had a Fiamma toilet which was awful. When I spoke to Autosleeper they told me they only fitted these for a couple of years. Looks like they try things out then ditch them when they‘re found to have problems.

Check out the owners club website on the tech news page, you should not have any problems getting springs for the doors. Other tech items are restricted to members

To see the tech pages of the website you have to be a member with access code. The spares dept will need build number which Traficlady won't have as she doesn't have an AS so I don't know if they will supply springs without that build number. She can only try.

Re: Hartford door problems
Not sure of the relationship between them all ie who owns what , but Hartal have connections to Miriad and Miriad have connections to Truma ( who share premises on the Dove Velley estate near Derby).
We have always found Truma very helpful both with advice and repairs but Miriad could not have been less helpful if they had put effort into being so.

Re: Hartford door problems
I think we’ve managed to blag it with AS and they’re sending some springs. Thank you for your help.
I’ll report back when they arrive and we see if they’re the right ones.

Re: Hartford door problems
The springs have arrived today. They certainly look right but we’ll take them to Spinney on Tuesday to check. £18 for two, posted the same day. Excellent service from AS again.
