Problems Logging onto ASOF
It's come to our action that a small number of forum members are having difficulty logging onto ASOF. We have received two reports in the past 24hrs so there could well be others?
When attempting to sign in these members are receiving a message saying "We have detected suspicious activity related to your account" if this happens you will be prompted to enter a Captcha code, but as members have discovered this fails regardless of how many times you enter the code.
This feature is not put in place by ASOF but by our hosts and is therefore out of our control. I can tell anyone affected however that our hosts are aware of the problem and are trying to resolve this as soon as they can. Many other forums hosted on their servers are experiencing similar problems so we are not alone.
Usually this might happen after several failed attempts to log in, perhaps because you've forgotten your sign in details.
"We are informed by our hosts that blacklists are updated from Google. Blacklist's are essentially usernames, ip addresses, email addresses, etc that may be related to spammers. Most of the time the cause is a username or a user who may use a lot of different ip addresses for whatever reason (sometimes this could not even be the user's fault, but the user's ISP and this causes them to be flagged and added to the ban list".
If you find you are affected can we request you please be patient, we appreciate this must be frustrating. We have to supply our hosts with your ISP details to get you unblocked so you have full access to the forum once again. If you continue to repeatedly attempt logging in it will continue to lock you out due to the number of unsuccessful failed attempts.
Apologies to anyone who's affected
Regards
Ed

Re: Problems Logging onto ASOF
I had problems logging on to this and one other forum (others that use same host were actually OK) despite logging on with correct username and password and the only way I could resolve it was to do a System restore to a date prior to the problem. Only my laptop was affected, phone and tablet let me log on without a problem, so I think it was an operating system problem (win10).

See above post. It looks like the IP address is the problem, nt the user name. I will try rebooting the router, which should give me a new address.

It appears some users ISP addresses have been blocked Roger, which would explain why you were able to log in to frederic's account.
To those affected we are trying to get this resolved but it's a complicated process so please bare with us.
If you are one of those getting the security guardian captcha screen then we will require both your username & your email address that you used when registering with the forum.
Thanks to those for letting us know their accounts are ok.

Thanks DavidT
Thats interesting to know, others when we have reset passwords have still been unable to get through the online guardian captcha screen so thats reassuring to know its worked for you. Hopefully we can get a few others members through this way. It's a rather frustrating problem to encounter.

Actually DavidT makes a very good point here, if members unable to sign in could reboot their router / hub then it should change the assigned ISP address & may then allow you to sign in.

Re: Problems Logging onto ASOF
Admin reset my password for me and I was able to log in. However, I changed the password and was locked out again. How can anyone think that changing your password is "suspicious activity"? Admin reset my password again, but I was still unable to log in. So, I left my router switched off overnight and got a new IP address. I was then able to log in. I will leave it a while before I change the password again. Thanks for your help Admin!

Re: Problems Logging onto ASOF
Had similar problems logging in. Even spoke with Admin about new password. Hey presto, just tried again a few minutes ago and the original login details now work fine!
So as some one else said "I'm BACK"

Thanks for the generous donation Peter, you didn't have too but once again it's greatly appreciated
Thanks to other members who've also posted here with updates to signing in, this issue has been / is a real pain, anyone else still affected we will do all we can to get you sorted.

Same here last night, couldn't load up forum at all. Host problem because I couldn't load another forum that uses same host whereas others were OK.

Thanks Paul & Daisy Mae
I've noticed a bit of lag since being on this morning.
I wasn't able to get on over the weekend so unaware who the forum was performing. Its possible the hosts were carrying out maintenance, we don't always get advance notice.
It's always handy to be informed of any issues in case as on this occasion I've missed them.
