Central Locking
i know there is no such thing as a dumb question but here goes.
When I am inside the van I can lock all doors by pressing the padlock button next to the hazzard light button. All the doors clunk shut. It will then illuminate for around a minute and turn off.
If I lock from outside using the remote key again doors will clunk shut but the doors locked button continues to flash every few seconds. Is this correct?
I have had the van four years and this is the first time I have ever noticed it. That's not to say it has not always done that.
The handbook is predictably vague.

Mine also does the same.
The remote can be used inside the van too and the light flashes as it does when used from outside.
I assumed the flashes indicated an alarm has been set but I don't actually know. I use the button when inside the van at night, to avoid deadlocking.

Re: Central Locking
When you lock the doors from the dashboard the immobiliser will not be set - after all you might lock doors driving through any unsavoury neighborhood. However, if you use the remote the light will flash to show that immobiliser (and alarm) are active. I have an extra alarm telltale LED which flashes. I had not noticed that the lock button coninues to flash as I am normally outside when I use the remote. I would guess that it does go out after several minutes - or is that one of the things that drains our batteries.

Re: Central Locking
It varies a bit from make to make, but on my (T5 based) van, if you press the internal "lock" button, all of the doors are single-locked. If you need to get out of the vehicle in an emergency (e.g. fire) you can get out by pulling on any door handle twice.
If the lock button on the remote is pressed, all of the doors are deadlocked. Under those conditions you cannot open the doors from the inside. Needless to say, the manufacturer does not recommend that you lock the vehicle in this way if there are people inside!

U
Interesting... I don't appear to have an alarm or deadlocks on mine.
I left the window open on the sliding door and locked the doors using the remote, waited a minute then reached in and opened the sliding door from the inside, fully expecting all hell to let loose.
The sliding door opened, no alarm...
Should probably get one fitted!

You double press the lock button on the remote to deadlock. At least on mine (a 2017).

Re: Central Locking
Thanks for all your helpful replies. It seems I have nothing to worry about....other than why I hadn't noticed before. Now that is resolved I will try to get my head round Brexit...or maybe start planning 2019 holidays instead.

I assume that's why all doors on our van and others (automatically lock when reaching 14 mph.inspiredron wrote:When you lock the doors from the dashboard the immobiliser will not be set - after all you might lock doors driving through any unsavoury neighborhood.

You can set that on or off in the dashboard menu if you don't want it to happen, I have it set to lock as well.
