Re: Insect Screen for sliding door ?
Thanks for that. I will certainly check that out.Kemerton-bath wrote:I looked at the insect screens on sliding door apertures in several van conversions at the Düsseldorf show recently. Their feasibility depends on whether there is adequate clearance between the rubber door seal and any adjacent cabinets or seating. For example the Dometic FlyTec FT200 (other solutions are available) requires a gap of 40mm between the inside edge of the door seal and any furniture or other fixtures anywhere within the door aperture.
For the Symbol Plus it will be the position of the rear single seat and/or any cabinetry above the door aperture that will determine the outcome. You could ask AS if it can be achieved when you come to order your van.

AS seem very slow to update their ranges. Looked at The Adria at last October’s NEC and they offer electrically operated sliding door and fly screens. This is a deal breaker for my wife and stopped as switching to a Symbol Plus as she struggles with the heavy door and in Southern Europe would be good to be able to sleep with the door open and fly screen across.

Not, it seems.
All being well picking up my new Symbol next Thursday (Hooray!). I asked the dealers if they could retrofit a side door insect screen and they said no, not possible.
Also camp a lot in Japan using a small Honda van. Big and warlike mozzies are a real issue there, and there are no end of cloth and magnet screens available online - but not for Peugeot/Fiat vans. They're fairly easy to make, too, if you can get the screen cloth and have access to a sewing machine (and someone who can use it.) Either magnets or stick on velcro tape works fine...
