Re: Fly screen for sliding door
It's on mine, but I'm slightly worried about the fitment thats why I wondered if anybody had already done it.

I wonder if AS could / would answer any fitting questions?

Re: Fly screen for sliding door
I asked AS if this could be fitted to my WarwickXL and they gave a definite no. I looked at the Dometic installation manual (downloadable) and the problem is that it requires a 40mm clearance between the door seal and any obstruction. (the AS Warwick has the back of the cooker enclosure too close to the door) But maybe it would fit on a different AS conversion?

Interesting...
My Stanway has a rear kitchen which means the sliding door is obstruction-free when open.
I note from the picture above, the 40mm requirement is only at the top of the door frame?

Not Dometic but this may be of interest

Shire motorhomes and Wildax offer flyscreens as optional, maybe they could supply or at least tell you what brand they use.

Re: Fly screen for sliding door
As an "alternative" idea, a site i was on a few years ago, a Dutch couple staying on the same site had knocked their own up from some plain net curtain. The sort of stuff some folk use for windows at home. It hadn't cost them anything except a bit of time and was very well thought out too.

I think that I saw this one in use in France last year. It looked very effective.

Re: Fly screen for sliding door
I had a fly screen fitted to my Symbol by the dealer when new.
It is like the ones fitted to continental vans, which are readily available and probably much cheaper because they have the sliding door on the other side.
Before I bought the Symbol I came close to buying an Adria Twin 500, a 5 metre van which has sliding doors both sides. There was a fly screen on the drivers side only.
SMC motorhomes at Newark fitted my fly screen. They obviously have a supplier who makes them. The price they quoted was £500 fitted, but I managed to get it included with my deal (and a lot more).
I was told that there were limited A-S models that would receive it because of the gap required inside the sliding door.
When it is not dropping off the runner it is very good!
There is a non moving infill piece at the back which keeps falling off. it is also not quite the correct shape which leaves a gap I need to fill.
Basically SMC made a poor job of fitting it and I need to spend a day sorting it out. Packing the bottom runner, adding brackets and a patch piece to the infill.
It is very delicate (the continental one are too) and need to be used carefully. One issue with mine is the moving post is a PVC section and therefore, because of its length, it shrinks when cool, which helps to cause it to come off the runner.
Before use wiping and spraying silicone on the runners helps.
Care is needed to open and close - two hand operation 1/3 and 2/3 height helps.

These may be suitable with a little adjustment. They aren't expensive either.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

We use net curtain fabric fixed with magnets. Does the trick and takes seconds to fix.
