Side door insect screen
Frequent question about insect/mosquito net for side door of van conversions. If anyone wants to try a far cheaper one than VanComfort , Temu have one for £30......

Re: Side door insect screen
The problem of furniture being too close to the opening to be able to fit the screen has been reported on certain models but for £30 it could be worth a go.palette wrote:Thanks Paul, just what we've been looking for.

Re: Side door insect screen
Arrived and fitted - bit awkward because of the Warwick XL frame but made it work. Pretty secure, might get some better velcro if we have any issues but closes fine etc so thanks again for the heads up Paul

Looking closely at the pictures am I right in thinking that there are 3 vertical zips, or does the join between the narrow and wide mesh sections have a magnetic edges?

They are a better price at AliExpress and you can use the small section or large section or both[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

How does it actually fit to the van? Looks very swish, I have to say.
Cheers

Re: Side door insect screen
Fitted a variant of this screen to two Kemertons, which is similar to a Symbol in the area of the sliding door. Ours is a Nozone screen, which looks similar to those in the pictures above, but has magnetic edges to the opening, enabling quick and easy access in and out of the van. Those above appear to have zips instead.
It performs well and is worth taking the time to fit it carefully underneath the door seal. Not an easy operation, devil is in the detail, but final result is good. Not as elegant as the sliding screen type fitted in Wildax vans but more robust and the only type that will fit in an AS panel van conversion.

So a picture to show the item before fitting rested on a 5 foot bed to show the size and 2 door sections can be seen

Re: Side door insect screen
Just got my screen out of the bag and spent a couple of hours playing with it. I assumed the screen would fit on the outside of the door opening but looking at the photos on here, it appears to be inside. Has anyone else fitted one and can you help? Photos would be greatly appreciated, my screen seems to be a few inches wider than my door opening. Thanks in advance - now back to the roof cleaning!

Re: Side door insect screen
It’s designed to fit between the door rubber seal and the steel edge underneath the seal. It’s been made wider than the door opening in order to provide some wriggle room. Once it’s in place and you’re happy with the fit, in particular the tautness of the screen, you can trim it.
If you didn’t receive instructions with the screen then check out the video at the link below. It’s for the Nozone screen we have but probably applies to some degree for yours as I believe the principle of trapping the edges of screen under the door rubber is the same.
Don’t let the video fool you into thinking it’s a one-person installation. Having fitted ours on two different vans I recommend having a helper. Once you start removing the door rubber from the top of the door it takes on a life of its own! You’ll need to remove the plastic trim at the base of the B pillar (below the seat belt) to release that section of rubber seal.

Re: Side door insect screen
Thanks Kemerton-bath. Unfortunately mine is the cheapo Temu version and fastens with Velcro not under the door rubbers. And probably a consequence of it being so cheap there were no instructions with it.

Re: Side door insect screen
You could try ditching the Velcro and use the Nozone fixing method but I suspect it’s a case of diminishing returns.
I think your experience illustrates why Temu is best avoided, but we’d better not get into geopolitics and the perniciousness of Chinese influence.

Hello. We've ( the boss) has just made a side door insect screen. All materials sourced from Boyes around £15. Not the prettiest but see how it works this year. Would upload a picture if I knew how
