Window seals
We have peugeot boxer autosleeper symbol year 2000. The side windows on the sliding door and the one on opposite side have dry crumbling window seals on the base where the window slides along. I had a service today and he said he can't replace as doesn't stock these items
I have no idea how to get this sorted cheaply. Any ideas ? We live near Egham Surrey.

Hi, just replaced mine. Contact autosleepers spares department. You can buy it by the mtr, its not the same as the original stuff, its rubber rather than plastic and is flat so needs folding so it fits. 2 mtrs will be enough for the bottom runners on each size. No need to take the windows out, just pull the old plastic ones out then slide new ones in using some lubricant.

Re: Window seals
Hi I seen to be finding various autoslerper spares website and not sure which is the official. Do you have the details ?
Also if anybody knows of somewhere near Surrey or GU25 area that might do this work please let me know. If my husband or I try to do it I think we might damage it as we are rubbish at any DIY.

Re: Window seals
I've ordered the parts. So it just fixes in by sliding it in ? What lubricant is ok for this material ?
And does it just slide under the window then ?
Sorry never done anything like this before .

Re: Window seals
Once the old channeI is removed push the sliding window back then slide the new channel under it as far as you can from the front then slide the wind forward a bit so you can grab the end and pull. Its a fairly tight fit, i used silicone spray.
When the new channel arrives its flat so has to be folded to a square u section. Don't forget to give inside the frame a good clean first.

Re: window seals
I have just replaced mine as well with the rubber runner from Autosleepers, i used a silicon spray to help it slide better into place, plus a pair of pliers to pull through, i firstly cleaned out the channel, i over measured new seal by couple of inches to allow for any mistake... i sprayed the channel, and started to push the new seal under the sliding window from the rear...then slowly pushed back the window onto the new seal and at same time wriggling the seal under the window, when i had got the new seal to just past the front edge of window i then used a pair of pliers to gently pull the seal through, at same time i tried to keep the window up an off the seal as best as possible so as to allow the seal to move better. When i had the seal in the correct position on frame where the old one started ..i then marked the other end to exact same position and cut off. Then to make sure all was seated down right i just pushed edges and run the window back and forth ...it now sits firmly in place and is a little harder to slide being new but it does make a good firm seal.

Re: Window seals
Would this seal be suitable for a 1992 Executive? A photo from somebody who has used it would be useful.

Hi Louise, if you click on the link that is on the message from Ploughlin, tell them what type of vehicle and year you have and they will let you know what they have that would suit. Then you can have a measure up and order.

Re: Window seals
Hi PB. It depends how much of your old channel is damaged, it runs along the bottom and curves and runs vertically up the front, if its just damaged at the bottom it can be cut with a stanley knife then insert new piece. Best to measure to make sure how much needed.

Re: Window seals
Just done mine. If I had known that it was so easy and cheap, I'd have done it long ago. Before reading this thread, I hadn't realised that the seals were separate from the frame, which is why I delayed doing it.
I've only done the one on the sliding door, when I came to examine the driver's side window, I found that it was fine - no need to replace.
I also thought that I would need to replace the seals on both the sliding and the fixed part of the window, but as I can't shift the fixed one I left it - don't think it leaks.
If I may add my observations to the already excellent advice given.
After removing the old seal, I removed the sliding 'pane' to allow me to clean the bottom edge of it and the channel the seal fits into. I also fitted the seal section and cut it to length. The seal was then removed to allow the 'pane' to be re-inserted and the seal re-fitted as described above. I used artery forceps rather than pliers though - slimmer and you can lock them on.
