Harmony MPG? Empty Harmony MPG?

Post by Troubadour Wed Apr 25, 2018 9:21 pm

Just seen a lovely Harmony listed near shrewsbury, new mot with no advisories, 56000 on the clock.
How do they compare to the duetto for fuel economy?
Someone just tell me why you love your harmony, cos this looks like a touch!
how available are parts?

I had a 2 litre Symphony and got about 28mpg driving at around 55mph. Lovely vans.

Harmony: we've had ours for 23 years and see no reason to change it. 2.0l petrol engine was pretty economical at 25 - 28 mpg but I've now converted it to 2.0HDi and getting up to 10mpg more.

But Harmony is a great van and much better than the 'sleep across' configuration vans such as Symphony if you're approaching 6 foot. Don't miss the oven. SWB chassis is fine and can get anywhere, within reason.

See earlier posts from me for more eulogising over the Harmony.

My Symphony was 2 litre petrol.

I slept along, not across. Plenty of length.

Mines a P reg Symphony 2.5 non turbo Diesel and does 35 mpg on a run which is more than its meant to do.
Beds are, 2 singles, a double or a large 6ft square bed using the three infill cushions.
I think Duettos are nicer to drive but Peugeots better to live in (the handbrake is on the right and gear lever on the dash out of the way).
All great vans as long as you can find a good one.

The Pugs have more headroom too, as they are FWD.

Mine is 1.9td and the last time I calculated mpg it was about 35-37.
That's running at  60mph or 3000rpm.

I've got a 1.9td and am getting around 30 mpg on runs.
If the one you're looking at is the same you need to get the factory build notes and find out which gearbox is in it as it could be a weak spot. I had one of the very last new old stock gearbox's for my vin no. installed at the back end of last year as the original was knackered through lifelong water ingress.
If it's a dealer selling it they can get the info through the Peugeot Service Box using the vin no.
If its a BVM5 -walk away.

I have a 2.L petrol Pug 1999 - just put petrol in when it is needed. Drive sensibly ( or is that slowly) - probably better mpg than my Volvo C70. Hate these cars that show petrol consumption. My old man said (I'm 63 so old advice) when you buy a car fill it with petrol. At the end of the week (weekly cash wages) fill it back up. If you cannot afford to fill it you need to use it less! Mind you petrol was a lot cheaper in the sixties.
