Hi gang can you clear my head and confirm that AS van conversations are now fitted with both hose and pump fillers for fresh water? If correct any idea from what year did they do this? Thanks in anticipation.

Regards

And our 2015 Kemerton only had the whale pumped inlet fitted initially. It now has both inlets as we had a 'hole for hose' fitted by the supplying dealer when we bought it 2 months ago.

Our 2014 Warwick Duo had Whale inlet only. It let us down badly on long trip to Spain. We had a manual fill inlet retro fitted at AS.

Fairford has both, dunno how to work the whale thingy yet, it’s still in its bag! Always just use hose.

Thanks team, so the later versions have both, I feel the whale only owners pain, especially looking around the preferred method of refilling appears to be be a hose or watering can and much quicker. Thanks again appreciated.

It may be of use to view my post on this subject "Sussex van conversion water fill." My solution is shown on page 2. Hope this helps.

I had the opportunity to nip into Marquis at Preston and as my learned colleagues have indicated, on the new vans there both fillers, strangly on opposite sides of the van? and on the one older van it just had a Whale filler. Thanks.

My fillers were on opposite sides of the van. I liked that arrangement as I could pull in to the service point and use the closest hole without negotiating one way roads so often found on campsites. Given a free choice I used the whale.

I have never had a problem with the Whale filler system, just make sure it is fitted nice and secure in the body work, it always cuts off when full. I did find on a French site with tremendous pressure, I had to turn the tap down a bit.

Not sure what is meant by pumped inlet, I can only assume the reference is to the Whale system and not like the caravan set up with external pump.

Our 2016 Duo has both fillers, on opposite sides of the van and came with them from new.

Both systems on our 2013 Dorset if that helps at all.
Too much hassle carrying a separate water container in the van just to
top up the water. Use a watering can.
I guess if you are staying on a site for a few days without moving
a separate water holder might be useful, the external pump stops when the
inner tank is full.

Whale filler system only fitted on 2014 Kemerton. Use Whale water pump to fill-no problems as yet.

The 2014 Broadway only came with a whale pump filler like a caravan. Previously we had a Pollensa with the useful hole in the wall filler. At the NEC Motorhome Show we secured a deal which included a hose filling hole being installed plus a few other bits and pieces.
We are so glad we had it fitted, it is so easy to fill the tank with water either with a hose or a watering can. The Whale pump kit of bits for the other inlet, that came with the van, is still in its packaging in our loft!

Exactly my opinion Pete, and our bits of kit have never been unpacked either.

I think the Whale filler is the definitive "Marmite" accessory.

Some folk have no option but to like it as they don't have an alternative, but although I do like marmite on my toast, the Whale should have stayed as a caravan fitting in my opinion.
