Can you send a photo of the split please? There is ultrasonic welding of plastics, but as old as 20 yrs may be pushing it a bit.
Two realistic options, one a van breaker, the other new from Peugeot. It can be fixed, but, as it sees all of the coolant pressure, hard to see a realistic solution. If it was a screenwash bottle, for example, there's many solutions, but its the pressure that makes this difficult. Also, you really do need this particular component to be 100%. Your coolant is pressurised to increase its boiling point, so, any leakage will reduce the boiling point to 100C or so.
Peugeot dealer for me I'm afraid!

One of the pipe spigots on mine started coming away and I repaired / reinforced it with [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] its been holding for about 4 years now.
I suppose it would repair a small split. Make sure the area to be repaired is scrupulously clean though.
I got a spare expansion tank from a breaker on Ebay, for a 'project' I might still have the old one if you get really stuck.
If you go for one from a breaker, try and get one from a diesel van as they have a float switch mechanism which you can wire up to the 'overheat' light on the dash. [My 'project']
