Re: Mercedes Sprinter service
I had some hassle with a MB commercial dealer, spoke to MB direct re my 'unhappiness' but all they did was refer back to the dealer who spun a yarn and it went no further.RML wrote:I can't imagine a manufacturer like MB tolerating substandard dealers and workshops. Did you contact MB direct to complain?

Re: Mercedes Sprinter service
I had a MB slk 320 in 2003. It had a in car service facilty. I remember when the faulty
cats needed changing the dealer said i havent had a service.(looking for an excuse to wriggle out).I said its not due ,the computor will say when. I told the dealer to check with Milton Keynes Head Office.
These types of service controls are common place on many vehicles now.
Basically on a motorhome its short journeys and cold starts.I never start a vehicle if possible unless it is going to be used on a journey.

Just to see what mine was saying I turned it on and found the right menu and it said Service A in 36600. Somewhat bemused by that.

I got similar when mine was a few months old. I contacted MB and they said, initially the system looks to miles run but as it gets to know you and your driving habits it can (and in my case did) alternate to time based monitoring. I think I ended up around 18 to 20 months between services taking the van to 3 years old. From then I have ignored the ASSYST system and have the van serviced annually at MOT time.
