Mercedes Sprinter Headlights
On my 2011 (2006-2013 series) Sprinter the headlight units has additional reflectors below the dip beams with position for a bulb. This is for a foglight, OE units with the foglight are available. Has anyone added the bulbs and wiring to their van to make them operable?

I suspect that there is only one wiring loom and you'll find that you just need the lamp holders... plus a switch at the other end. Our 2014 van seems to have blank places for fog-lights in the bumper.
Not wishing to hi-jack the thread, although your title covers it... do the headlights self-adjust for height/payload? There is no mention in the handbook and no little thumb-wheel on the dash.

If they are Xenon lights then I believe they have to be self-adjusting and is now an Mot test item.

I can't see Merc/A-S fitting Xenon lights as standard- they are listed at £1700 +VAT by AUDI (who seem to want to sell me a new TT!).Paulmold wrote:If they are Xenon lights then I believe they have to be self-adjusting and is now an Mot test item.
A while back I did have a VERY ordinary car which had self-levelling headlamps.

Re: Mercedes Sprinter Headlights
I have the bumper spaces for fog lights as well, but reading on http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w901-905-sprinter/ it is quite a job to fit them in there as the screw mounts are not present.Pete Taylor wrote:I suspect that there is only one wiring loom and you'll find that you just need the lamp holders... plus a switch at the other end. I have the wheel adjustment on the dash for dip beam. The loom is probably the same but finding the correct end under the dash is probably beyond me. The light bit should be easier, bulb holder with tails and plug into 12 wire socket.

Re: Mercedes Sprinter Headlights
Peter,
Thinking about your extra reflector- it is unusual for fog-lights to be mounted so high up- perhaps they are for spot-lamps?
Where on the dash is your thumb-wheel adjuster?
Thanks for the link to the Sprinter forum, btw.

Pete,
The thumb wheel adjuster is outboard of the light switch.
I agree the foglight seems high but they make the unit. Here is an example, not OEM I think as cheaper, you can see the lower bulb in the picture. http://www.npautoparts.co.uk/car-maintenance-c2/lighting-c14/headlights-c133/mercedes-sprinter-mk-3-06-right-hand-o-s-headlight-electric-p7961/s9354?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=replacement-mercedes-sprinter-mk-3-06-gt-right-hand-o-s-headlight-elect-hl9318-0745&utm_campaign=product%2Blisting%2Bads&gclid=CNSI9920tsMCFWTHtAod_iUApg

Re: Mercedes Sprinter Headlights
I am surprised when I see the latest Mercedes cabs from AutoSleeper that they have no fog lights but the space for them is blanked off. I would have thought for a top of the range vehicle it would have the fog lights fitted and in my opinion it would improve the appearance of the vehicle while also be useful.

Mine has the thumb wheel next to the light switch.

I must be drinking the wrong grade of paraffin these days... I thought that was the wheel which adjusted the illumination of the instruments! I see now that function is controlled by + and - buttons, doh!
Of course the headlights are different on my van; there are now Daytime Running Lights in the cluster but no "spare" location as there is in your slightly earlier units.
