2015 Mercedes Sprinter  Empty 2015 Mercedes Sprinter

Does the new AS Bourton 2015 mercedes need an additive added to the fuel ? If it does where do you purchase the additive and is it costly and where do you put the additive in the vehicle ? We currently have a VW GL Clubman  which I like very much and a Static Caravan but I enjoy the motorhome more so we are considering selling the static then trading in the VW for the new Bourton.It is a very costly business and we dont want to make any mistakes so your vies would be interesting.

Are you talking about Adblue, for the DPF regeneration. If so its in a tank behind the front offside bumper, gets filled during normal services, enough for over 30000 miles I think. As a user you won't know it is there.

At the moment the 2015 Sprinters AS use still have Euro 5 engines without Adblue.  The Adblue required for Euro 6 takes up quite a bit of space and weighs about 50kg so its use will have a big impact on AS.  The Mercedes bumpf syas it will only need topping up at routines services BUT Adblue dispensers are appearing at filler stations all over Europe...!!!!

Peter is correct in that A/S are still building on euro 5 engined sprinters.
The euro 6 engine is more expensive to buy [I believe there is a £1200 price difference] the adblue tank is mounted on the offside engine bay with a capacity of 18 litres, my Bourton has the euro 5 which I am quite happy with as it will be many years before euro 5 engined vehicles will have pollution issues in cities.

Boris Johnson is talking about adding £10 to the London congestion charge for any non-Euro 6 diesels this summer. But who wants to go into Central London.

This EU document http://europa.eu/legislation_summaries/environment/air_pollution/l28186_en.htm appears to say that ALL diesel engined vehicle designed for transport must meet Euro 6 if registered (not built) after 1 Jan 2015. If so how does AS sell Euro 5 engined MH?

Euro-6 will be introduced on light commercial vehicles type approved from 1 September 2015 and all light commercial vehicles registered from 1 September 2016

I've been on several web sites and the above statement is the most common.

Yes, my link probably refers to car types. So it is likely that any chassis cabs AS get after 1 Sept 2015 will be Euro 6. Mercs current brochure for the Sprinter does say that for vehicle mass over 2840kg Euro 6 engine is standard, but AS presumably have other arrangements. How far ahead to AS buy in their chassis cabs. Mine was built 26/3/10 but registered 31/3/11.

When I ordered my Bourton (delivered 25th Oct 2014) I was offered the Euro 6,at no extra cost. After a few calls to people in the haulage game I quickly declined and have a Euro 5. The general opinion is that the Euro 6 is more trouble than it's worth, more expensive and if it goes wrong ........?

I would contact a Mercedes main agent, sometimes motorhome chassis's are quite old before being built on.
