Kingham washroom fan
We have had our 2015 Kingham for a month now and are very pleased with it. However I have to get up to use the loo at least once in the night. The underbed lights are great as I can put them on and find my way around without waking my husband, BUT, if I switch the washroom light on the fan automatically comes on too. This makes enough noise to wake him, and our neighbours too!
Is there a way to isolate or switch off the fan? Our dealer didn't know. At present we are using a battery operated multi LED light that we used in the tent many moons and vehicles ago - hardly progress!

Same annoying little issue with our Kingham too and we have done the same as you and made do with an LED light from a Diy store. I guess someone in the AS design team doesn't use the toilet in the van.

Perhaps something slightly better than a torch would be a battery operated 'wall mounted' (adhered by double sided tape) light. You will get to know where it is situated in the bathroom so no fumbling in the dark and alkaline batteries should last several years.

Re: Kingham washroom fan
Mine sounds loud when I'm in the bathroom and I too thought it would annoy my neighbours, however I deliberately left it running one morning and walked round the extremity of my pitch, to see how loud it was.
It was audible, but only just, so I don't think the neighbours would notice it from inside their vans.

I have not seen this fan but you may be able to fit a small cord operated switch within the fan mounting. The soft used for wall lights would be ok. You could also use a single hole mounting push on push off switch.

I've done exactly as suggested above on our Broadway as we found the noise intrusive when the shower was not in use and of course it wastes electricity particularly when not on hook up.
I fitted the switch inside the fan and the cord hangs down a couple of inches below the mesh grill, it's not a difficult job to connect the switch inline with the 12 volt feed just next to the motor.

We are spoilt, we have two lights in the bathroom. One operates the fan and the other doesn't. We only use the one with the fan when on EHU.

Re: Kingham washroom fan
The light in the shower is the one that feeds the fan over the shower and my wife likes to have plenty of light on the job when she’s applying the war paint, so both ceiling lights are on plus the swivel spotlight over the mirror but the fan noise is very intrusive when you’re not actually using the shower, although not as annoying as those stupid blue led lights in the mirror over the sink !Peter Brown wrote:We are spoilt, we have two lights in the bathroom. Re: Kingham washroom fan
how do you get on with any noise from a SOG system...? is this as/less intrusive or no SOG fitted?
even if 'overhead fan' could be isolated, SOG fan comes on when blade is opened, unless water pump is switched off....which sorta defeats the object...

I don't think Boleroboy has an Autosleeper, so that would explain the uncertainty.

Oh, we must be fortunate as our blue mirror lights are silent.spanner wrote:The light in the shower is the one that feeds the fan over the shower and my wife likes to have plenty of light on the job when she’s applying the war paint, so both ceiling lights are on plus the swivel spotlight over the mirror but the fan noise is very intrusive when you’re not actually using the shower, although not as annoying as those stupid blue led lights in the mirror over the sink !Peter Brown wrote:We are spoilt, we have two lights in the bathroom. I extended the stereo system into the bathroom, to make full use of the disco lights over the sink. Best to put the steadies down though.

thanks, Dave, didnt mean to confuse....SOG is a popular after market fit and i wondered if (for those that had it) was it an issue too.....Gromit wrote:Hi PeterPLOUGHLIN wrote:AS don't fit SOG, so few have the "problem".

Hi, we have a SOG fitted to our Kingham van. It was fitted by the dealer. It's so quite we don't notice it running and it works very well indeed (no smells).

Hi
After reading this thread I have fitted a pull switch inside the plastic grill of the extractor fan on our Kingham, as suggested by inspiredron & spanner. Pull switch only cost £2.50 on eBay.
Problem solved.

Don't wish to upset the post, but.............
I wouldn't recommend fitting a SOG to a Warwick Duo. The toilet cassette access door is inside!!

Re: Kingham washroom fan
The door to the cassette on our Kingham is also inside the van, only ours is accessed by opening the back door and on the Warwick Duo it's accessed via the sliding door.
Our SOG is vented through the floor, so is not a problem.

interesting, ours (not an AS) is vented upwards via a roof chimney, so it looks like al options are possible.Ritametermaid wrote:The door to the cassette on our Kingham is also inside the van, only ours is accessed by opening the back door and on the Warwick Duo it's accessed via the sliding door.
