Heater problem
Hi
I have a 1998 Autosleeper Trident with the Propex heater. I was staying in the van the other night and had been using the heater without any problems but when I came to use it again it would go through its start-up cycle but fail to ignite. According to the manual this could be due to air in the system which should be purged if it goes through start up cycle again (this hasn't worked). It isn't a gas supply issue as isolation valve is open, or the fuse and there is plenty of gas.
I think I'm going to have to get someone to look at it - anyone able to recommend someone in the Edinburgh area?
thanks in advance

Re: Heater problem
Have you checked that the exhaust pipe is clear? On my Duetto, there is a mesh cover which can collect rust/sediment. A couple of sharp taps dislodge it and the heater starts up.

Also, if you were not on hookup, make sure that the leisure battery voltage is high enough - a Propex heater won't fire up if it drops away too much.

Re: Heater problem
I had the same problem with the Propex in our Trident. In the end I sent it back to Propex to repair and update the system. Well worth the cost and you know it's been safety tested.

It's amazing that a manufacturer is still prepared in this day and age to recondition a 20 year old heater. The mounting space in the Trident is tight and the larger later unit wouldn't fit as a replacement.

Re: Heater problem
I recently had the same problem with the Propex in my Symphony, it turned out to be a bad earth connection on the leisure battery.

Re: Heater problem
PLEASE !! get it looked at by an approved service agent and check/replace your carbon monoxide detector.
I live at to opposite end of the country so I can't help with a recommended dealer but this is so important.
