Ford Transit Duetto Cam Belt Change Advice
I am still looking to buy my first duetto autosleeper and one of the questions/answers I feel I need to know is when should you change the cam belt as I keep seeing adverts for sale saying "new cam belt" at such and such miles. Help please. Sue

Re: Ford Transit Duetto Cam Belt Change Advice
Hi there,
Welcome from a rather chilly Alicante!
Great choice of motorhome!
According to my booklet (for Ford vehicles built between 9/89 and 5/98) Ford recommend that the cam belt on a:
Transit DI 7/98 every 5 years or 60,000 miles.
Transit DI 8/98 every 5 years or 50,000 miles.
Personally, I would change it out every 50,000 miles to be on the safe side.
Best regards,

Yep, I second that,
Had 3 Transits & ALL supposed to be every 50k, & I did & never had any probs.
Dead easy job anyway, as Trannys are designed to be easy to work on.

Re: Ford Transit Duetto Cam Belt Change Advice
I have just taken ownership of an 05 Nuevo it had only done 24,000 miles but the advice elsewhere on this forum was 5 years was also a point to think about. As I had already paid for mine in November of last year (but as there was only 3 months guarantee I arranged to pick it up this February) the dealer was naturally not interested in doing anything about it, but armed with the aforementioned info from this forum he agreed to split the cost of a new cam belt, the bill for me was £125.00. so, if you see a van you like ask for evidence of when the cam belt was replaced and use this as part of your negotiations on the price you pay.
Good luck with your purchase

Transit cam belt replacement
I used to have an 2002 Duetto ( the model AFTER the smiley face model) and was told that this did not have a belt as it was chain driven on the newer transits and as such should never need attention. hope this is of some help, The Duetto is a great vehicle, hope you find a suitable one.
