My van went in to Peugeot very recently for an oil and oil filter change at 4600 miles and I was advised that the AdBlue was low.
I asked them to fill it, while it was in and they only managed to get 7 litres into the 15 litre tank, which leaves me to believe it would have been closer to 8000 miles, had I left it until the light came on.
Yes quite possibly it is low, can’t say yet because one assumes it was full to start with...it may not have been! And it depends on how you drive..
My biggest issue is filling it...I can buy the containers but they don’t have a spout or dispenser and it looks like a pigs ear of a job to get it in without one....
I can wait until I get on the A7 on my way home....and get to a refill garage but I rather fancy filling it myself whilst I’m here in Spain....

I bought a 10 litre container in the UK - it had a spout tucked into a recess at the back of it. Have a look and you might be lucky.

Is all AdBlue the same? Do Peugeot recommend a particular brand or 'spec'?

I believe it’s all the same....dealers will however prompt you to buy there’s.
Today I called into a Peugeot dealer in Calpe to buy some adblue and a spout...
The parts and service dept showed me the funnel they use to top up cars....it’s was filthy...oil all over it....
I’ll be buying a funnel of my own, wouldn’t trust that dealer to keep my system clean!

I just checked Amazon, all the 10L containers/bottles come with a spout, often hidden in a recess behind a label.pstallwood wrote:I bought a 10 litre container in the UK - it had a spout tucked into a recess at the back of it. Have a look and you might be lucky.

Thanks Ray!
Tempted to go with the Yara brand, they seem to be popular in the agriculture world too.

I used Grenchem AdBlue which seems to be readily available online as well as through distributors throughout Europe. Certainly 4l comes with a filler tube and the 10l with a spout.

Re: Adblue - Euro 6 Engine
AdBlue is something like 75% water anyway so I think if the AdBlue tank was empty and tap water added then the nox sensor would pick that up and stop engine, but if you had say 4 litres of AdBlue in and you added 4 litres of tap water then your diluting the AdBlue and you would double your remaining range.Spospe wrote:What would happen if you used ordinary water?
NB I won't be testing that out myself.

Re: Adblue - Euro 6 Engine
Adblue uses de-ionised water. Tap water will destroy the sensors and catalyst.

Re: Adblue - Euro 6 Engine
Just bought a 2018 Nuevo and it came with a bespoke filler for the Adblue from auto sleeper. Might be worth contacting them. Can't comment on the effectiveness as haven't used it yet.

Re: Adblue - Euro 6 Engine
I’d be interested in a pic as well, I’ve bought 10 litres ready to go in, but I’m being told that it’s a pain to fill. I might hang fire if I can get hold of a filler.

This is the filler, but I am struggling to find out how it attaches. I have tried to search for it on line with no success. Have even tried searching for the part using numbers printed on the side. I will have to contact dealers etc after the holiday.

Re: Adblue - Euro 6 Engine
I would think that the yellow colour coding indicates it's for the engine oil rather than the Adblue tank?

I have just checked and you are correct. Wouldn't mind but we had to endure a 2 hour induction when collecting the vehicle and feel confident we were told it was for the adblue. Thank you mojo.-mojo- wrote:I would think that the yellow colour coding indicates it's for the engine oil rather than the Adblue tank?

This is why I asked for the photo.aajax42 wrote:This is the filler, but I am struggling to find out how it attaches. I have tried to search for it on line with no success. Have even tried searching for the part using numbers printed on the side. I will have to contact dealers etc after the holiday.
I made exactly the same mistake myself in February [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] until Paul pointed out it was for the engine oil and I since confirmed it.

I tried to use the filler provided with 10l containers, I found it really difficult. I ended up using a flexi hose funnel with a long spout. The tank took the full 10l eventually, the van's done 3500 miles. I suspect it wasn't full when new!

Re: Adblue - Euro 6 Engine
Wouldn't have been far off, Peugeot's figures are 6,200 miles from 15 litres so that's 413 miles per litre.palette wrote:The tank took the full 10l eventually, the van's done 3500 miles. I suspect it wasn't full when new!

A bit off subject but I can remember garages having a hand operated pump on the forecourts for adding redex to the petrol. No one was really bothered about what came out of the exhaust in those days.
