Re: The patter of tiny feet - Topaz
I've had no more visitations thankfully.
I went right through the interior cupboards etc last Friday just to make sure there was no nesting going on.
At the same time I removed the seats other than the driver/passenger seats so that I can keep them indoors. I've had no luck in tracing any of the original fabric for the upholstery repairs - AS put me onto their upholsterer but they have none. I also emailed several other upholsterers with a photo of the fabric but nobody could help. I've tried a 'find a part' service which should circulate breakers yards with my request but no response as yet.
I think my only remaining option is to take all my upholstered items to a local upholsterer to see if they can remove fabric from the hidden areas (back of cushions), replace it with plain fabric and then use the proceeds to do the repairs.
I know it doesn't seem to make sense but since I blocked the Carver flue, no mice seem to have gained access - there are no droppings and the traps are intact. It was the same last Winter - as soon as I covered the flue, visits stopped! I'll continue to monitor the situation but we've had some cold nights and I would have expected a visit or two.

Hi John.
For peace of mind I would remove the cover of the Carver water heater and check that this is no way into your van from outside. This is for two reasons the obvious is the ingress of vermin that you are trying to eliminate the other is if there is a way in it might let dangerous carbon monoxide fumes into your van.
Its an easy job to take of the cover its fixed with stainless steel screws. You can not get it wrong it only fits one way and nothing drops out or off when you remove it.
There should be no way into the van from outside.
Good Luck Whisky.

I don't know what type of heater you have in your van but we have a carver fire that has a vent pipe out the roof and one out the bottom of the van. The hole around our lower vent pipe was massive and would have allowed rats inside so i put fine mesh around it. Just a thought.
