Fresh water tank

I know this is a really simple question but what do you use and how do you clean / disinfect the fresh water tank on a 1993 VW Trophy. I don't want to use the wrong stuff and do some damage to seals etc.

We've not had the Trophy long and only used it once. When I first filled the water tank and turned on the sink tap the water smelled like bad eggs for a minute or two then was fine after that. We always buy bottled water for drinking and only use the tank to do the washing up, we weren't poisoned by it.

Hi, better still and cheaper, fill a small container (say 5 litres) with tap water for drinking and (as you state) use the tank for washing up and bathing.

This is what we do.

We use Elsan Water Fresh a couple times a year and occasionally when filling use Aqua Clean Tabs. We use the water in the tank for everything including drinking.
