Warwick duo crack in shower tray
On lifting the mat in the shower we found this crack!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
about 80 mm long and goes all the way through, it is directly under the toilet in the shower tray corner. I imagine caused by flexing as the area underneath does not seem to be supported at all.
The van is 7 years old but has hardly been used. I do have a warranty with MB&G that mentions covering the water system and the toilet, but does not mention the shower.
Anyone else had this problem?
I will ask auto-sleeper's the parts availability and what is involved tomorrow. Open to suggestions.

There is a firm which specialises in this problem. Can't remember who, and can't look until tomorrow afternoon - but will do so if nobody comes up with a name.

When we had our 2007 Topaz which we had from new, we found cracks all around the washroom area.
Like you it had very little use, mainly day trips as at the time we had a Caravan also.
These first came to light just after the 3 year A/S ran out. On contacting Alan Curry, I was told 3+ years old, fair wear and tear! I protested this and eventually got him to agree a price to change the entire washroom area. It still cost me £1000, including renting in Broadway for 3 nights.
When it failed again after another 3+ years I again phoned and was told "hang on the van is now 7 years old" getting no where I did a P/X and yes I bought another A/S van.
So I would suggest if you have to use A/S to do the work, just keep putting on the pressure both from the MD Mike Crouch and Alan Curry and they may come up with an answer. Not sure of the setup now under new control.

Speedcoat is the company Gromit is thinking about, they have people country wide who will come to you, I had mine done a few years ago when it cracked around the waste. They will fill below to support the repair, choice of colours, I completely stripped the toilet and basin out so they could go over the whole lot. The finish is a slight ripple effect. Just look for speedcoat on the web.

Speedcoat looks like £400-£500 a lot for a crack, I have just spoken to autosleepers apparently the technical person is on holiday but they should get back to me by tomorrow.
Had a look at the warranty last night it covers.
Internal Equipment
Water System
Water heater (gas or electric), fresh water tank, water pump,
water gauges.
Cassette Toilet
The cassette toilet is covered (excluding seals, valves and
glands)
Water ingress through any permanently sealed seam or joint,
being part of the original motorhome manufacturer’s
construction (cover ceases when a motorhome reaches 7
years old).
The toilet and shower is one part so is it worth asking if it is covered?
The van had a habitation check in november would they have spotted this?

They do speedcoat over the whole tray, it's around 3mm thick I think from memory and a lifetime guarantee. Just check with your local Speedcoat person, mine was not as expensive as that. Just can't find the paperwork

There were topics on here in the last few weeks about claiming on Insurance and loading for 5 years. Not sure if that applies to your type of claim.

Re: Warwick duo crack in shower tray
Not the vehicle insurance, this is a separate warranty with mb&g, last owner paid £750 for 3 years cover.
So no effect on the van insurance.

Re: Warwick duo crack in shower tray
Whatever you do don't say it happened due to wear and tear to MB&G. For them to pay out , things must break.

Re: Warwick duo crack in shower tray
Thanks Redwink. It was Speedcoat I was thinking of.
I didn't think they were that expensive, but have never needed their services so I didn't pay very close attention to their sales blurb. Their sample of the finished repair looked very impressive though.

Re: Warwick duo crack in shower tray
Just had a call back from autosleepers, all they can do is replace the shower tray £240 for the part + £500 for fitting . Not the best news. Looking at the alternatives before talking to the warranty company.

That sounds about the answer I got. Tell them you want a better deal and then tell them again. The problem I found was that they want to do the repair, not a dealer, but might be an idea to enquire with a dealer how much their labour charges are, I did get Mr Crouch to bring some bits down to local dealer ( Marquis Lower Upham ) but he was based there.
Keep up the pressure, they even agreed to come and look at the van at my home, but as I said before I just got to the point of doing a PX.
