By 'not attaching to the canopy', do you mean the side walls and front that make up the Safari Room type of awning, that uses your canopy as the roof, or do you mean a freestanding, drive away awning that attaches to the fascia of the canopy, but where you keep your canopy closed ?

I've got a Kampa Travel Pod Motion Air on order, but take a look at this recent thread about the sliding doors on our vans, causing damage to this type of awning.

I've just sold my Ventura Freestander awning, which is made by Isabella and was excellent quality, but that quality came with a fair bit of weight and bulk, which is why I've gone for a lighter 'air beam' type of awning.

Watched a chap in his new van yesterday erecting a air beam driveway awing, (Filey) he was struggling in a 15/20 mpg wind , don't know the make of it ,however he didn't keep it up for long as the gusts increased.
Hope you have better luck with yours wolf.
