Cheap dash cam
I know there's a fair bit on here about dash cams, I've just adapted an old mobile phone . Just need a mobile phone with a camera, download free Autoboy dash cam app from playstore, a windscreen phone holder, 32g card, and a charging lead and that's it, no sim needed or internet after the apps downloaded.
I have mine set on a 30 minute loop, works great. Not so good at night but I don't often drive at night.
£3.99 for holder
£4.49 for 32g micro sim
£1.25 for charging cable. All from EBay.

Re: Cheap dash cam
According to the chaps on the dashcam talk forum, the problem with using a mobile is that they tend to overheat if plugged in all the time.
Personally, I wouldn't know but I think its something for you to watch out for.
If you want it for recording motoring incidents, then you should shorten your loop cycles, if your camera get trashed part way through a 30 minute loop, you've lost the whole 30 minutes. whereas with a 3 minute loop, you only lose 3 minutes at most.
If you want it to record a pleasant drive then 30 minutes is fine.

Nice idea, and one I would've pinched if my son hadn't bought me a Nextbase unit for a Christmas present.
