The problem seems to be that there are two "profile" buttons.
1) At the top of each page, there is a "profile" button to the left of "You have no new messages" (or maybe, "You have a new message") This button shows the forum member's details including their email address).
2) Under any forum member's Avatar is a "profile" button which takes you to a page showing details about that member, but it does not include their email address.
So spherebear cannot see boxerman's email address (at least, that is the way it seems to me).

Re: INTERMITTENT STALLING
I had a similar fault on a friends '99 Symphony. It would run fine then lose power at idle and cut out - often requiring a wait to "reboot" before it would restart. It was eventually traced down to an ECU fault and found one on Ebay, had the immobiliser unprogrammed from the "new" ECU. Each ECU is programmed to the individual vehicle for security when the vehicle is new - we immobilised the immobiliser to allow the new ECU to function..

I have had exactly the fault you describe with our year 2000 a/s symbol, 2.0 litre petrol. It was the idle stepper motor at fault. Since replacement has run perfectly. Best of luck !

Re: INTERMITTENT STALLING
Sorry for the late contribution to this one: wife not been well and had other priorities!
Frank is correct in that first summer out in our 1995 Petrol Harmony we had a very similar sounding problem except the engine would consistently fail to idle i.e. not intermittently fail. This happened half way through our first continental tour in the summer of 1996 and the only possible get home workaround was to permanently advance the revs by tensioning the throttle cable by advancing the very losable C-clip further along the ribbed ferrule on the engine end of the aforementioned cable. Thus we completed the trip with the engine never idling at less than around 1500 rpm. A few funny looks at pedestrian crossings but no other problems!
Fortunately at the time the van was still under warranty and, between far too many gearbox changes to mention, the local frustratingly incompetent Peugeot main dealer actually diagnosed crank sensor failure, or at least that's what they told me. The fix then ran OK for the remainder of that engine's days and so I never revisited the sensor and, unlike Frank, I don't even recall where it was to be found.
Generally if you need information on the 2.0l petrol engine, and little or nothing comes up relating to Boxer, then I think the same 8V engine was fitted to Citroen Xantia so searching for that might yield more.
Hope this helps.

Re: INTERMITTENT STALLING
Sorry, a bit late on this one.
This is a bit 'left field' - have you had a look at the water evacuation pipe from the windscreen scuttle. On advice from here mine was dripping on top of the gearbox which was resolved by fitting the left hand drive longer pipe which could direct water away from the gearbox.
As your issue is intermittent could it be water draining from the roof gutters down the windscreen into the scuttle and then dripping on part of the fuel system ?
Terry

Re: INTERMITTENT STALLING
Greetings and a Happy New Year to you all.
Sorry about my absence. Been away on work and an extended Christmas break.
The van had to wait at home alone.
Thanks for the recent advice.
Crank sensor/Idle stepper motor area is where i'll start when i get enough money to approach a garage.
The Citroen Xantia is a great tip too Bartfarst.
Newton Terry..... i got a longer pipe fitted a couple years ago. Our gear box was knackered as the water was
dripping/running directly on to it. Bad piece of design. Hoping that's still sorted but i will add it to the check list
for the garage to tick off. Nice one. Thank you.
Hope you all have a great 2017.

Re: INTERMITTENT STALLING
I still think this could be the cause. Changing leads and checking caps etc and wd40 on electricsmikethebike wrote:A few pointers to go on with.
These engines can suffer from water going over all the electrics from the windscreen.
Remove plug caps and check for water or corrosion around plugs.
I suggest changing plug leads unless this has just been done. Its a weak point with age and a cheap item to change.
I am sure a dose of WD 40 around this area would not go amiss as well.
Is the problem more noticeable in the rain?

Yup.
I meant to have plugs and leads in the list above. Does look a bit too wet under the bonnet Micky.
Thanks mun.

Re: INTERMITTENT STALLING
I've said it before - could have done with this forum when I started getting gearbox issues back in 1999!!!!!!
My Harmony is going in next week for a fuel pump 'recalibration' to see if there's anymore horses hiding in there, refurb of the injectors and as I need a new back box I might splash out on a stainless steel exhaust !!
The old girl is going to get a proper work out this year .........

Hi Terry, apologies for off topic but your aviator location looks like Broadway CC site. Beautiful village and countryside.

Re: INTERMITTENT STALLING
Yes you're right and it was early December and pigging freezing .......
I was up there to visit AS to see if they could fit an oven. No joy because of the rear seat belt anchorage column intrudes into the space too much.
It took me the whole journey home (to Fareham) to thaw out !
