Microwave switch
Hi all. Can anyone point me to the switch/socket/MCB that controls the microwave?
I expected it to be somewhere near the oven if only for quick isolation in an emergency.
And I could turn it off when parked on drive with mains on.
This is in a 2013 Dorset

Re: Microwave switch
On my Gloucester the Microwave power plug is behind the MW, so not easily accessible. It is supplied from MCB2 (10A) on the Sargent Unit, which also supplies the space heater element.

Thanks Peter, there is no access to the back or sides of the M/W without un-shipping it.

Re: Microwave switch
Our microwave isolation switch is on the wall next to the microwave. Has an led in the switch that lights when switched on.

Re: Microwave switch
Hi Jaytee. It sounds as though the coachbuilt models are better thought out!
A switch on the wall is what I am looking for. I am just hoping no one points
out that the switch is "behind the flap next to the oven" 'cos I cannot see it, so far.....

No access on mine either. For isolation use MCB 2, but loose the heater element.bertb wrote:Thanks Peter, there is no access to the back or sides of the M/W without un-shipping it.

Re: Microwave switch
That might be the way to go Peter. Turning both the M/W and the heater off when on the drive. Not much chance of any of them being on accidently. That is if the Symbol/Dorset is wired the same way! Time for another look.

Re: Microwave switch
In our 2014 Warwick Duo there is no switch as such, just a 13 amp plug / socket which can only be reached by removing the microwave oven from its enclosure.
In order to isolate it, I can turn off the power at the Sargent 155 unit, mounted under the kitchen sink unit (this is the easiest way in the Warwick Duo).

Re: Microwave switch
I think that's what is fitted somewhere in the Dorset Sospe but the surround has hidden fixings which I cannot find. Besides that why would I have to take the M/W out, after finding and undoing the hidden bolts holding it down, just to isolate it? Rhetorical question of course!

Re: Microwave switch
Normally the MW is fixed with self tap screws through the base/shelf, holes covered by those stick on circles which can disappear unless you look very closely. Better to isolate at the Sargent unit MCB.
