Waste water tap Empty Waste water tap

The tap on my waste water tank has broken. Where can I buy a new one? Do you think the tap could be 'universal'

Ebay.

You need something similar to this; [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Not necessarily universal, you need to check the outer diameter of your tap (the part which goes in the tank). You also need to find out how the tap is fitted. Where some simply screwed in from the outside, others were secured by a nut fastening from inside of the water tank which means dropping the water tank from the van. Typically thats how mine was and i couldn't be bothered crawling around on the floor faffing around so gave the job to my local Garage who did it for just 20 quid!

Isn't the waste tap usually on the end of a pipe clipped on the inside of the sill, so any tap of a suitable diameter will do. The fresh tap is directly on the tank. Well they are like that on Symphony/Symbols.

Yes - though it may depend on year. But our 2006 Trooper has both fresh and grey water drain taps on short lengths of pipe clipped to the sill (well actually to the outer part of the plastic undertray, which I don't think is present on T4s).

You could probably purchase a replacement from an Ebay dealer, as suggested above. The difficulty is knowing precisely which is the correct fit.
There are three accessory shops within reach of Penrhyn Bay.
One in Llangefni directly opposite Asda store. Name unknown. Very extensive stock.
One in Abergele. Five Ways Motorhomes (I think !) Leave the A55 at Exit 24 and head towards Abergele. Located 50 yards from A55.
One in Prestatyn . On the coast road between Rhyl and Prestatyn. Name unknown.
The Abergele outfit have motorhome technicians who would probably fit it for you in a few minutes.

I bought replacement fresh and waste water taps for our Pollensa from Autosleeper spares dept a year or so back - can't remember the cost but do remember being surprised it wasn't a lot.

Many many thanks what a wonderful bunch of guys you are. I did get a spare tap from
Auto Sleepers on-line. My local garage guy is going to fit it. It will require dropping the
tank. Thank you one and all. X

The 28.5 mm waste water drain pipe from the Auto Sleepers Clearance site is a bit more than a fiver. Price on show is £7.50. Add the stealth tax Vat then postage and the total cost is £13.80. On reflection decided not to buy but make do with a slightly damaged drain pipe.

The handle broke on mine last week, managed to turn it on with the pliers but I suppose I'll have to splash [sorry] out on a new one. These things don't last, its only 21 yrs old!

I've found the barrel type that AS fit are easy to clog up and so don't drain well. I replaced one on the Symphony with one of these which flow much better and can be dismantled if need be to clear..

That's exactly what happened to mine, Frank, after only 14 years (!) - they seem to go brittle with age.
Our original waste drain tap was grey and fresh water drain was white, I've replaced both with the black ones from Autosleeper as they are identical in size, thread etc and came complete with new washers (the old ones had started to perish) so it was a simple two minute job to fit them.

Thanks Paul up!  is that the right size - 20 mm?
I'm in the throes of commissioning a new shed and a bit too busy [read lazy] to take the old one off to measure it.

I think mine must be different to yours Roger, it fits into the end of a pipe - no washers.

The drain pipe was expanded on the original one to fit the barrel tap that AS fit. I simply cut the pipe as close to the old tap as possible and it fitted perfectly, pipe must be 1/2" bore,  just secured with a jubilee clip. Obviously the pipe was now about an inch shorter but so long as it reached the terry clip at the sill it was fine.
