Sprinter to 2012 daylight running lights....
I have always been unsure about DLR's but recently 'clipped' by an AA van would now like to retrofit some to our sprinter. Mercedes quote was seriously expensive and I was advised because of the canbus system the job can easily be done wrong. There looks to be loads available on the internet, anyone actually fitted these please and is it really that hard?
Thanks

I have been thinking about these from Ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251848516135?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT , not cheap but apparently only 3 under bonnet connections. I have emailed the seller for further installation instructions.

Those are exactly the ones I was looking at, I would want the paintable ones as I have the chrome grille covers but black would look good with the black grille I guess! My concern would be cutting out the bumper to put them in and how well they actually sit in the space. If enough of us interested then a discount surely!!

Looked at the ledcom website and they are £12 cheaper than going through fleebay, they also have a download of the fitting instructions, not exactly comprehensive!

LedCom definitely they way to go... Hefin the owner is extremely helpful and their after sales is superb, just got in touch with him a few days ago as the chrome surrounds on our LEDs have corroded, without hesitation he asked me to return mine for a replacement pair, said they had a batch that has come to their attention as being troublesome, can't get fairer than that after 18months.
The forum got a discount code, so try putting in ASOF5 or ASOF10 I can't remember which it was but might help, if not drop him an email for the correct code. Fitting instructions are brief but only because fitting is so simple, have fitted two different sets now and they have both been very easy and straight forward.

CC - Thanks for that if you have fitted them on a sprinter how did you cut the hole out in the bumper and did you remove it first?
Thanks

Re: Sprinter to 2012 daylight running lights....
Not fitted them on a sprinter only the Boxer X250, first set was the round led set that fit low down, in the fog light holes, the second set higher up in the air slots... Used a drill to make a hole then gently cut out with hacksaw blade then tidied up hole with a file, these inserts are designed to easily come out as it's usually where the manufacturers fit fog lights etc, the instructions are vehicle specific and are a doddle to follow. No need to remove bumpers etc, they are designed for easy DIY fitting & canbus compatible

Hi all
I have an e mail back from Bethan, the boss is away at the moment but she confirmed a discount would be possible so thanks to CC for that. I believe he is back after June 06th as mentioned above but will advise if I hear further before then.

We cannot find out the discount until Hefan gets back from his holidays as above, just that there will be one!
I will be ordering crackle black as I don't fancy spraying them Mercedes arctic white!

The discount is 10% and the code needed on ordering is AUT15. There are now only 3 of the black ones left and 2 of the paintable ones and stock of them is low. Delivery is £4.40... to Cornwall anyway!!

Re: Sprinter to 2012 daylight running lights....
groundhog, look great.
How did you cut the bumper moulding? Did you remove the bumper?
Which fuse slot did you use for the positive supply?
The AUT15 code doesn't seem to work any more.

Re: Sprinter to 2012 daylight running lights....
Sorry for the slow reply Peter
I expected to find the bumper made of GRP ( silly me) it is a flexible compound with a sort of rubbery feel which cuts incredibly easily. I masked off the surrounding areas heavily then put a single strip of masking tape over the section to cut out and stitch drilled round the edge. I then cut it out with a dremel using a small cutting disc. You will see there is an indentation all round the shape you MUST leave this so cut a few mm INSIDE the raised area, there is plenty of room to fit the lights through the subsequent hole. You need not remove the bumper, I was scared of doing this part but it was so easy to cut it took just a few minutes.
I want to check with my local Merc dealer before I do the final connection and will let you know which fuse to use, it looks very simple but I want to be absolutely sure.
Re the discount code suggest you ring LED and speak to Bethan who will activate it for you.
Hope that helps

After reading about the day running lights I ordered a set. They are fitted and look really good. Only thing is which fuse did you use. Really appreciate a reply back.

Re: Sprinter to 2012 daylight running lights....
Sorry Kathy we are 4000 miles away from the van in BC at the moment so cannot check exactly which one we used. From memory the feed was put through the rubber grommet located on the pax side near the top of the engine bay, a bit fiddly but doable then down tithe back of the fuse box in the footwell and on a piggy back fuse, there are a number of spare ones and from memory we used the tachograph one but may be wrong. we will not be back in the UK for a while to check I am afraid

Re: Sprinter to 2012 daylight running lights....
Thanks so much for your quick response back especially when you are so far from home. Glad to say hubbie cracked it. More or less just what you said. Put it on to the bottom row of fuses to start with and realised it was on a relay as light kept going off and on when the key was disengaged. Shifted the fuse up onto a higher level of fuses and Bob's yer uncle perfect. Thanks again
